I've been on the fence for getting the Addams Family because I already own the original release and haven't listened to it for quiet some time. Always been a fan of Shaiman's work, but I'd like to hear other people's opinions on the new expanded release. Does the new material make it worth getting again?
The second "Empire of the Sun" disc of extras is SUCH a treasure.
So great to be able to hear familiar cues in slightly different arrangements and then some other alternate cues. The strings only material is terrific and one patch seems to anticipate some "War of the Worlds" moments? What a treat!
I finally got around to watching Empire of the Sun again since it had been years since I saw it and it is a good film, definitely a hidden Spielberg gem. Williams score is fantastic and really has such a dramatic impact in certain places. My only gripe is I wish that he would have scored the finale of the movie. I won't spoil it for those that haven't seen it, but it reprises Suo Gan and I wonder if Williams even tried to score the finale or if Spielberg knew all along that's how he wanted to end it. I would have loved to hear what Williams would have come up with...
