I know there are several threads discussing Spotify but there is not one to post 'discoveries' for those of us who love and listen to Spotify. I have discovered some interesting albums that I didn't expect to find. Also, for those of us who can't afford to purchase as many CDs as we want, I have been able to listen to a lot of scores prior to making a decision to purchase. They even had the latest X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST prior to it's availability on Amazon/iTunes.

After purchasing (and falling in love with) David Raskin's LAURA thru Kritzerland I used Spotify to listen and discover additional David Raskin music that I was unfamiliar with. And they have a lot of the Charles Gerhardt's Film Score Re-recordings.

So I thought that for those of us who do like Spotify that we should have a place to post some of our "discoveries." Both albums, tracks, and playlists. So I'll start with some...

Quartet's recent (limited to 1000 copies) release of Pino Donaggio's PATRICK

AIRPORT 1975 - John Cacavas

Michael Giacchino's version for Disney's SPACE MOUNTAIN

I have a running playlist of favorites from the 50's through today, if anyone cares about what I like.

I'm lately into videogames music:

Dreamfall, by Leon Willett, very Williams/AI influenced:

Black, by Chris Tilton (Williams influences again - bunker buster)

Remember me, by Olivier Deriviere:

I know what you guys are thinking / Batman Arkham city by Nick Arundel:

As for other scores / single tracks:

The War begins - Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant - Stephen Trask

Below The Ocean - Atlantis, by David Arkenstone (not a score but sounds quite cinematic)

Short ride in a fast machine by John Adams, a clear inspiration for Don Davis Matrix score:

I got a Spotify notification this morning that John Barry's "King Kong" was now available. Even though I have every single release of it, it is nice to know it is there on Spotify whenever I need to "Hit The Big Apple" with Kong.

Just saw that "The Genius of Film Music: Hollywood Blockbusters, 1960-1980" with John Mauceri conducting The London Philharmonic Orchestra is available on Spotify ahead of it's release on Amazon tomorrow.
