In my opinion, the best cue in the entire score was unfortunately left off the CD -- "The Ceremony".

Fortunately, you can hear this cue on Beltrami's official site: http://www.marcobeltrami.com/the-giver

I love this cue so much. So expressive. The chord progressions just resonate with me so much and create such a depth of drama and emotion; such is the skill and brilliance of Beltrami. I hear a cue like this and not only do I want to hear it again and again on a loop right then and there, but I know it will join the Beltrami Cue Hall of Fame for all time, and regardless of whether I ever wanted to see the film, I do now just to see how this cue plays against image. Very evocative and mesmerizing. Those that enjoy this score, head over to MB's site and listen to this cue!

I have to say my all-time favorite Beltrami score, as yet unreleased, The Invisible, is most like The Giver. Or, I should say, The Giver is most like The Invisible. The same longing, unabashed depth of emotion, strong theme, with some action/adventure but some real heart. These two make great companion scores, or would, were The Invisible available! I've been lamenting its absence for years. I suppose it's Intrada territory, as it was a Disney production, so it falls to them...

I would rank this with Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark as one of Beltrami's best scores...certainly classed up a fairly drecky YA adaptation. So nice to hear thematic, emotional music in a modern-day movie.

It's a shame this score kind of came and went, this is my favorite Beltrami score. Just lovely.

Agreed... beautiful score that got neglected and overlooked for whatever reason.

The scoring for the extended extra scene was really nice.
