Of the 8 (!) scores credited in 2015 to Marco Beltrami (No Escape co-composed by Buck Sanders), I think this one is his best. Out of 8 freakin' scores in one year, that is saying a lot!
No Escape is the best...closely followed by The Seventh Son.
Oh man, wait until you guys hear this score, it is intense but so creative, exotic and unique. Beltrami and Sanders are geniuses.
This might just be the score of the year for me, but I'm reserving that spot for JNH's Mockingjay Pt. 2 just in case, because I have a feeling.
(By the way, whoever edited together this soundcloud suite (Lakeshore?) did a poor job, electing to cut off and begin cues at ridiculously ill-advised moments that makes the flow of the suite terribly jarring ... I recommend skipping this soundcloud sample altogether and download the score or listen to the samples on iTunes)
Brilliant how in "Market Research" the composers seamlessly transition from the market source music to their own score in such a smooth and effortless fashion.
"Fighting for Annie" really grabs you by the throat from the very first second.
"007812" has an outstandingly powerful final 20 seconds crescendo. Love the Soul Surfer-esque wordless processed male vocals in this track (and in "Embassy Issues").
The Embassy sequence is absolutly briliant... easily one of the strongest moments of the movie... Can't wait to hear the score on its own... hopefully soon...
Not sure if this is common knowledge, but for those interested, the currently available Lakeshore CD is a limited edition run of 1,000 units.
Yeah, it's becoming a standard I think to print a limited quantity because they know they won't sell many, and then to advertise as a "limited edition" in order to market to collectors.
If anyone ever wants to look this thread up in the FSM search engine in the future, don't look up No Escape, even though that's the thread title -- look up The Coup (the film's original title).

Excellent score and surprisingly strong movie - had me hooked from start to finish! Very, very intense!
It truly was!!! I just watched it last week. I had to remind myself to breathe constantly throughout the movie because it just would not let up. Very underrated and a shame that hardly anyone saw it in the general moviegoing public.
I've been downloading this score from eMusic a few tracks at a time (just completed the rest of my missing tracks today) and I really like it a lot. Love the gamelan element.
I love the furious action that begins tracks like "Fighting for Annie" and comprise "Pool Cue" and build to huge ferocity at the end of "007812," but I also think there is some incredibly lovely music on display with this score, particularly with the "Refuge" tracks ("Rooftop Refuge," "Brothel Refuge," "Border Refuge").
I absolutely love those final notes played during the last 0:30 of the final track, "The Story of Lucy." Such a delicate, poignant conclusion:
