this one was new to me and it is absolutely delightful. Kaper is a master pianist.

Had the wonderful LP of that music years ago. MR Kaper was not only a great composer but a fine performer as well.

I'm happy to say I've had a CD of this album for years, (not sure under what label), and the LP for even longer. If memory serves, this is another treasure for which we can thank the late Tony Thomas.

There should be more Kaper C.D.s (maybe a C.D. of his scores from "The F.B.I.", perhaps?)

This is a great album - I particularly love Kaper's performance of his sparkling "Auntie Mame" theme - he was a truly great melodist, I remember discovering his work through "Them!," and then going from there. Parenthetically I should note that Leonard Rosenman once called Kaper the finest pianist he knew (and Alexander Courage has told a few fun stories about Kaper in various interviews - such as Kaper's calling add9-chords "shoulder chords," which I believe is in Jeff Bond's "Music of Star Trek" book).

It is absolutely fantastic. I love Green Dolphin Street!!! Absolutely recommended to all and it's only $9.99.

DavidinBerkeley claims that David Raksin called them "shoulder chords" -- 4th post in

But Jeff Bond interviewed Alexander Courage (it's on page 66 in the book) who attributed it to Kaper.

Toronto jazz piano composer/performer Mark Eisenman received a letter from Jeff Bond who quoted the passage from his his book:

It's a good CD, alas too bad the sound quality is so tinny and distant.

I disagree. I thought the piano quality was just fine.
