I think it's a shame that writers such as Vivien Schweitzer are not already familiar with 20th century composers and learn about such only because they have a need to research into the subject.
Is Marius Constant obscure?
Well ... if Vivien S. ever witnessed by music collection, she would have encountered a number of discs of music by Marius Constant that, over the past 20 years, I own (before YouTube channels).
Since PNJ's thread header doesn't mention the name of Marius Constant, I wish to compensate by making this a Marius Constant appreciation/discography post!
I certainly meant no slight to Monsieur Constant, I merely sought to intrigue the Group Mind. That said, I'm certainly glad you checked in with your knowledgeable post. I must confess that aside from TZ, the only Constant I've got in my own library is his orchestration of a Ravel piano piece, ("Gaspard de la Nuit," if memory serves). I take it you'd recommend that album above as a good starting point for Constant exploration. Can you say or describe anything specific about that particular piece you mention?

Yes, PNJ, it is "Regards". There's been 2 recordings of that piece, but one version is a chamber reduction. The one on Cybelia (good luck in anybody's attempts to locate a copy of an OOP Cybelia CD ) is for full orchestra and the work is basically a violin concerto in 4 movements.
I think the best place to start, though, might be the Citadel disc on which Constant's orchestral impression on Turner reside along with compositions by Daniel-Lesur & others. [I think Tom Null produced this album program during the late-1970s]
