The A-Team CD releeased by Silva so many years ago was actually pretty great. Derek Wadsworth, I believe, was heavily involved in that. The main theme was obviously a rerecording, but the rest of the cues were very close to the originals (as I could hear compared with the DVDs). If they are rerecordings, they're damned fine.
Agreed. My only gripe was that - because the album was produced on a relatively tight budget - it was slightly repetitious. Eg: 'Bandits' and 'More Bandits' (which was recorded in one go and then edited into two pieces) and the theme repeated again at the end - I always felt that it went on a bit, at nearly 3 and a half minutes! I love the 'Young Hannibal', 'The A Team in New York' and 'BA's Ride' cues though.
The project was one of the first Wadsworth did with soundtrack collector/producer Michael Jones (they formed a kind of partnership for a while). The only reason I know these things is because years ago I bumped into Derek in a hotel we were both staying at. I was on a course related to my work, and he was judging a 'battle of the bands' contest! Very nice man indeed.
I wouldn't mind an A-Team album of original tracks though. In fact I wouldn't say no to a few Post and Carpenter albums. Occasionally though, while I thought the themes were very good indeed (catchy and memorable), I found the underscore occasionally a bit more bland and routine.

Aside from his television themes, I think Mike Post was brought in to do extra scoring for projects that received extra attention. When "Stingray" was launched, I think NBC hoped to give it some of the gloss found in "Miami Vice." So, Mike Post seems to have written a unique musical bumper for each episode. If you have the DVDs, you can listen to them. Some are quite good!
