It's a case of lost in translation followed by quick judgement from the readers.
It's an old principle (also at the basis of homeopathy) that she conveys incorrectly. Add to that a "don't bother me with details or content" reporting of a sensationalist medium and the mixture is complete.

If one took the time to carefully consider every detail of every crackpot theory there wouldn't be any time left.

If this stuff stems from the basis of homeopathy then the research has already been done and we can safely conclude it doesn't work. Even if it is an "old principle".

Let’s not be too hard on her. After all, she knows what it’s like to be in war, what with all that internet social negativity and stuff, right? She does seem focused on how negativity affects people and things, reminds me of…

"Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?"

I've decided to 'conciously uncouple' myself from this thread.

The cards are a bit stacked against anybody caught in a downpour, or facing a tsunami. I mean, there's all that unrequested water coming in your direction, and you can hardly be in a mood for positivity, no? Some of those water molecules are just asking for it, downright aggressive.

Emoto seems like a bit of a character. You might just imagine that sound waves could affect water crystalisation, in various ways. But what about acoustically violent words like 'Great' or 'Fantastic' that are quite positive? Or alternatively, soft, smooth words like 'manure' and 'sh*te' that are actually quite bad? I mean 'arson' is a soft word, with a very hard meaning. 'Loathsome' is a smooth, gentle, sensuous word with a very negative meaning.

With this stuff there's always 'the gap'. You have a transcendentalist, holistic, multi-dimensional view on one hand, and a 'scientific/empirical' view on the other, and these folks always make the 'jump' from one to the other at some point prematurely. To say there's an eternal, omnipresent dimension where 'consciousbess' links things is fine, but it's not science .... YET.

If you're crossing a desert, and you hit an oasis, does the water respond nicely to your joy at seeing it, or does it recoil from your anxiety? These are the questions for enquiring minds, Gwynn.

to Jehanum-Maybe all the time in the world for other people though if you do find a magnificent truth in the unknown. Now is that not what makes life worth living, what one can do for others, be it close love ones or distant strangers?

Rich and bored people have lot of time to indulge in hair-brained nonsense, with the side benefit that it also answers the need for attention that they always have as well.

To all of the men out there (and maybe even the women):

If you HAD to be in ANY kind of a relationship with either the female subject of this post OR the subject of the "Woman claims: I'm not a racist" post, who would you choose?

(Maybe it will put some perspective on things here). Maybe...

I got the same water talk from a Korean doomsday cult I hung out with a while ago (as a curious observer of cults, not as a member). It's the kind of magical thinking that leads to stuff like The Secret by Rhonda Byrne and her claims you can get a car park or win the lottery if you think positively enough. The dark flip side is that bad things happen to you because of you own negative thoughts. If only the Jews had known that back in the 40s. And that 6 year old with cancer? Imagine the negative thoughts she must have had.

Paltrow seems to be a rather harmless nutter, so of the two it'd have to be her.

But for the record, I've got better at home.

This is good^^
http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/lostinshowbiz/2014/jun/05/gwyneth-paltrow-water-bad-vibes

"This week, Gwyneth has mostly been thinking about hip New York restaurants, bold fashion prints and quantum mechanics – though her communiqué majors on the latter. "I am fascinated by the growing science behind the energy of consciousness and its effects on matter," it begins. "I have long had Dr Emoto's coffee table book on how negativity changes the structure of water."

I think you'll agree there's a lot to enjoy in that sentence – primarily the fact that this Dr Emoto publishes his research in a coffee-table book. It makes me realise what an impact The Origin of Species could have made had Charles Darwin only thought to present it in a photo-rich format that could take its place as a glorified coaster..."

As a senior member of the sisterhood, I can tell you that she is not one of us. I tried to analyze why she says some of the dumb, alienating things she does. Can it be that she dated Brad Pitt? No, Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie haven't pissed off the female population the way Paltrow has. Is it because she dated Ben Affleck? No, J.Lo and certainly Jennifer Garner have not pissed off the female population the way Paltrow has. Then I figured it out....it's because People magazine voted her "Most Beautiful Woman" in 2013. That's it! It must be. It has gone to her head and scrambled her thinking! After all, didn't Adam Levine bleach his hair white after being voted People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive? Sure it was a delayed reaction but it must be the cause. Case closed, Gwyneth Paltrow "Most Annoying Dingbat".

I don't keep up on celeb gossip, but perhaps this is why Chris Martin took the ankle express.

Or maybe the nutty came after....??
