Well, there IS a need if the original film is out of touch with younger, contemporary audiences (which I think it is). I like it myself, but then again I'm 36 years old so I grew up with that kind of action film in the 90s.

SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR---poster released showing Eva Green (CASINO ROYALE) as "The Dame". The poster was then rejected by the MPAA

Hey, a good idea would be to just market the poster but stop the movie from being released. Good God the first one was so awful, but being based on Miller's piece of sh*t comics, no surprise. '

And screw the Cliffhanger remake too. What a ridiculous idea!

Taken on its own terms, how was Sin City other than exactly what it needed to be? Sounds like a sensibility argument; it wasn't yours...not that there's anything wrong with that. As much as I like it, I can imagine how it might not be everyone's cup of tea...while still seeing it was perfectly conceived and executed for what they were going for.

With any luck...if Rodriguez shoots it right, SS2 will be that poster at 24 fps.

It occurred to me that by doing this very thing - sharing the movie poster of Sin City 2 - we *are* utterly bypassing channels and allowing the art to be appreciated as it was intended by the artists.

In so doing we relegate the MPAA to a heap of inconsequence.

I am genuinely encouraged and proud of such a thing, even if it is but a stab at that which is wrong in the world of art.

Good point. If you think about it this happens all the time. When ever there is an attempt at "censorship" or "moral outrage" it brings more attention to the thing some want to hide from the masses.

The remake will include CGI Abdominal Snowmen.

Complete with six-pack.

Given his career right now, I wouldn't be surprised if Renny Harlin directed that remake wink.

I see no problem in remaking CLIFFHANGER, and don't understand the outrage at this proposal. Sure, it's a good potboiler already, but it's very "90s" so there's definitely room for a more contemporary sensibility.

... Ted Turner? Is that you? wink

So I guess the Cliffhanger remake got canned?
I would ' have preffered Sly just do a sequel. It may have sucked but anyway.

iy.

Too bad. Trevor Jones would have had another chance to recycle his theme from MOHICANS.

Can't we have a dedicated, "What ever happened to that movie announcement?" thread instead of bumping five year old threads?

I thought we got into trouble with the thread police if we did that?

Ha, a great theme though. A memorable theme is as rare as hens teeth today (come back Trevor).

Bumping the old thread is perfectly groovy, man.

Besides, we may be done with those threads, but those threads aren't done with us. wink

It takes certain members, apparently, five years to come up with a reply. And when I say "members", I mean one guy.
