His use of this theme throughout the score is just brilliant, as in gentle cues like BEDTIME STORY, his jazzy POOL HALL rendition and then played with honor and passion in the dramatic finale moments of the film. It's really a major cementing element to the complete awesome score. Love it in the End Titles so much. And to top it off, included on the soundtrack, but not heard in the film, the wonderful KAY'S THEME played in that great gentle rock style, masterfully orchestrated for piano, strings and full orchestra. What a great piece that I've used countless times for Photo Slide Shows of memories of my family and friends. I think it's one of Goldsmith's most pleasurable and superb compositions ever! It reminds me of other pleasing 70's American movie live themes such as the "Coma" and "Players" Love Theme and the earlier John Williams "Something for Remy" from "Earthquake" and "Something for Susan" from "The Towering Inferno" and the fantastic Love Theme from Alfred Newman's "Airport". The first part sounded like it was being played by musicians on speed and the beautiful love theme was played so incredibly slow I just couldn't understand why he did it that way. It really was messed up. Who's arrangement was that or was it just the tempo set by Snow's conducting the orch was painfully following? Sorry. Give it a listen and watch if you have the DVD and CD. It just sounds wrong. Is it just me? I was gonna make a post about Kay's theme in the morning ironically, as I was listening to this today and thought to myself, "This is too damn good a theme not to have a thread all its own". I love the stand-alone Disco-fied concert arrangement, dated though it may be, and the stirring finale rendition. But my favorite must be that absolutely SOARING rendition for the "Overture"'s mid portion. Those strings, those glorious horns! It teems with sweeping, lyrical beauty. Just magnificent. No rerecording, nor the original and less-muscular sounding film tracks, has for me ever eclipsed the breathtaking beauty of that bit. The NPO original album is tops! There is some love theme on the LP that has that irresistible sleazy listening vibe. I can't remember if it is the same music as in this clip.    Posted:   May 3, 2020 - 3:10 AM     By:   Zooba   (Member) Always found it interesting how KAY'S THEME the Pop Rock Version that appeared on the Original Soundtrack LP does not appear on the INTRADA Release of CAPRICORN ONE. I thought it might at least be included as a "Bonus Track" but it isn't. Love the Jazzy Pool Hall Version though heard in it's full version on the INTRADA release.
