I'm really excited for both of these. Jarre's music for Solar Crisis made an impression even if the movie couldn't hold my attention, and the more Sol Kaplan, the better, I always say.
an evil corporate mogul (Peter Boyle) set on sabotaging the mission
Unbearable, tedious and idiotic yak-fest though Solar Crisis may be (if you were a wealthy executive living on a planet whose only chance of being saved from an ELE was a spaceship taking on the crisis head-on, would you really try to sabotage it even if you were profiting from the rising heat? You wouldn't? Congratulations, you are now officially smarter than Peter Boyle's character*), I have no complaints about Jarre's score.
*It may have made more sense in the Japanese novel the movie was based on, although I doubt it.
I bought the Kaplan and it cost me $31 from Intrada, with local California shipping and tax. That kind of outlay won't be encouraging people who are unfamiliar with the score and who might be undecided about taking a chance on it.

Evidently, you haven't been following the climate change debates.
This might be the first Maurice Jarre release for me of which the samples sound enticing (the Carmina Burana use obvious, but still effective). Will put it on the wishlist. Unfamiliar with the movie, nice release intrada!
It was time that an big orchestral soundtrack Maurice Jarre was edited, because Mr. Jarre was very dull and heavy with use and abuse of synthesizers. Long live the full orchestral scores!!!!!!!
I am quite surprised that there has been a lack of enthusiasm with Judith. I first became aware of the score from James Fitzpatrick's wonderful re-recording of 'Exodus', on the CD there was the recording of the main title from Judith which left me wanting to hear more of this wonderful haunting score.
I really hope that people will come to love this brfore it has gone.
Finally a big thank you to all at Intrada for going the distance in releasing this score.
JUDITH has been a hard film to see. Apparently it was on VHS back in the day, but never made it to DVD. It's available for streaming if you sign up for Amazon Prime.
Directed by the prolific Daniel Mann, the film's second unit director was Nicholas Roeg. The screenplay was by John Michael Hayes, who was involved in such famous screen adaptations as PEYTON PLACE, THE CARPETBAGGERS, and BUTTERFIELD 8.
