My review of the album, if anyone's interested (which based on past experience is unlikely):

The movie is very very stupid.

The score is good, but John Williams' magestic theme is too big for such lame images.

Haven't seen the movie yet (but am surprised by the number of people on my social media feed saying it was either a.) the worst of the lot or b.) the best sequel in the series so far) but the score is good. I do really like that Giacchino quoted his original Lost World video game score in the middle of the album (wish he had done that a few more times, actually).

He doesn't adapt the Williams material nearly as well as Davis did. If they didn't need the Williams theme, I'd say this was a very good score (though Jupiter Ascending is a far better score) but once the old motif creeps up, its like hearing someone learning to shift a manual transmission for the first time.

nternationally, the dinos also continued their rampage unabated, topping the foreign chart with $82.5 million from 66 markets for an offshore total of $737.5 million and global haul of $1.238 billion.

JW..has a lot of No.1's in box office

Fastest Film to reach 500 Million Domestic

IT is up to 1.238 Billion. Oh yeah Fastest film to one Billion.

Who knew. The Tentpole was to open with just 150. That was blown apart.

BUT...There is a lil flic coming in Dec...that will make 700-1 billion it's opening WORLD WIDE WEEKEND and has John Williams Music. Star Something. lol

Well said. I like Giacchino a lot, a lot (Jupiter Ascending and Inside Out are musical triumphs), but I consider Davis a unique, incredibly gifted composer. I re-listened to his JPIII in succession with the franchise scores, and his palette is just incredible there. Perhaps the material speaks differently to the composers. Granted, JPIII ain't The Brothers Karamazov, but for essentially a slasher movie with dinosaurs the music triumphs over the stupidity of the screen. In Jurassic World, Giacchino is going through the motions with aptitude. But it most always just accommodates the pastiche-fest sewn together for this belated box office behemoth; it just never seems to soar, to me.

P.S. I love his Lost World game score, and get really excited whenever he quotes that stuff in Jurassic World. "Raptor Your Heart Out" is easily amongst the best cues written for a JP flick.
