I have both pages of the composers from Vanity Fair in January 1997. I lamented these two pages back in 1997 so they are in perfect condition. The composers in the pictures include Jerry Goldsmith, James Horner, Danny Elfman, John Williams, James Newton Howard, Elmer Bernstein, John Barry, Maurice Jarre, etc. Is this worth anything to anybody on this board?

Most of us saw this pic when it was put online way back in the late 90s. I think it was Ryan Keaveney of Music for a Darkened People website who scanned it from the magazine and put it out, and since then it has scattered all over the place.

But perhaps the original, physical magazine has more value, I don't know.

My copy is in storage. Did Dave Grusin make the cut back then and appear in the pictures? If not, I think he definitely should have been in it. So many great scores to his credit and nominated numerous times for Best Score Oscars and winning one for THE MILAGRO BEANFIELD WAR.

Nope, no Grusin.

That pic is rather sad these days considering how many of the composers we've lost in the last seventeen years. frown

I have a copy of the magazine, but I would be interested in a laminated (Ha! - "lamented" - Freudian slip?) copy.

What are you looking to get for it? CDs? Cash? Thanks and admiration? smile

It has already been discussed many times but for your information two sessions of the photo were held for various reasons :

the first with : Hans Zimmer, Jerry Goldsmith, Elmer Benstein, Jerry Goldsmith, James Newton Howard, Danny Elfman, Maurice Jarre, Marvin Hamlisch and Michael Kamen.

the second (background of the photo) : James Horner, Lalo Schifrin, Bill Conti, John Barry, Mark Isham, Quincy Jones, Eliott Goldenthal, Alan Menken and Marc Shaiman.

I have the original pages, carefully extracted from the magazine, although I think I'd like to have a really good scan, just not sure a scan of what I have would be that great. Alas, the risks of moving...
