It definitely looks like it's expanded, which is a good thing after the disappointments we've had with some of the other titles in this collection. I have to say I'm curious about those album versions included.

The only Aristocats soundtrack available up to now was a cd that came from Walt Disney Records France in 1994, at the time the movie was re-released in France. It was a hack job with so-so sound and was repackaged subsequently in various countries.

In an interview some years later, Randy Thornton had expressed his disappointment when, offering his help, he had been answered (if I remember correctly) they had no idea who he was and, no thanks, it was just a kiddie movie, they were not prepared to go any extra mile to produce a fine cd.

So we can imagine that, this time, he did it his way, the proper way. I expect this to be miles ahead of this previous missed opportunity.

Very weird. Even though POCAHONTAS was pulled from Amazon weeks ago, my order was never cancelled.

Now I just got an email that it shipped, at the original $14.99 price.

Same thing happened with the GONE GIRL score CD last year. I preordered, it vanished from Amazon but my order remained, it shipped anyway, I got it, then it appeared on the site for sale again again a month or two later.

The listing itself wasn't pulled (i.e. URL and item), just its availability. Based on the theory in my July 28th post above, I think because of the shifting release date the algorithm either prevented new orders because the item's changes made it too flaky (i.e. might never appear - I know unlikely with Disney, but I don't think it differentiates) or until they had actual inventory on hand. The August 7th revised date is now here so your original order was probably still safe even though they wouldn't take new orders until the date was locked down or they had inventory.

I was just listening to the Terry Gilkyson song demos on the DVD for The Jungle Book. I hope when it gets a Legacy Collection release it will feature all of these Gilkyson songs, as well as the content from the LP More Jungle Book (Baloo's Blues, etc.).

Has there been confirmation of additional releases beyond what is currently out there?

Anxiously awaiting any news TLC will continue in 2016.

I'm happy that my favorite (Little Mermaid) was released, but it'd be utterly devastating if they stopped without releasing Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast and/or Mulan.
I've longed to have the instrumental version of Friend Like Me that plays when Aladdin's end credits start.

I hope they didn't paint themselves into a corner with the "anniversary" idea. If poor sales ends the collection prematurely we won't see the rest of the 90's scores. And there's a good chance those would've been expanded like Lion King, Little Mermaid and Pocahontas. I rather have Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin over another Sleeping Beauty or Cinderella which didn't benefit from a re-release.

Perhaps Intrada could pick those up if it is made known that Disney's done with their TLC line, and that strong demand for the remaining titles still exists in the soundtrack community. That is certain to bring us better products too.

Well, for one thing Intrada would issue theirs in jewel cases (the sleeves were a non-starter). They really should have done this entire series. Its future wouldn't be in doubt.

Hello folks,

I already got "Pocahontas", "The Little Mermaid" and "The Lion King" that surely were the best of the whole batch.

Now I got the chance to get the followings but I would like to know if they are worthy to invest (consider I don't own previous releases of them):

- Pinocchio
- Sleeping Beauty
- The Aristocats
- Cinderella
- Lady and the Tramp

Any advice is appreciated smile

If you had not asked us to consider you not having the previous releases, I would have recommended you just get Aristocats as the others are not at all different from their previous releases except for the addition of some demos (they didn't even remaster them as far as I can tell). I'm not sure about Cinderella or Lady and the Tramp, but Pinocchio and Sleeping Beauty are still missing a decent amount of music (in the thread on Sleeping Beauty's LC release, I wrote a post breaking down what's missing from the score). However, since you don't have the previous releases for the other four, you might as well buy them (though I'd also recommend you the original soundtrack album for Sleeping Beauty from ITunes as that has music not on the LC release, unless you strictly adhere to physical media).

If you like classic Disney music whats the downside of getting them? They are the most comprehensive versions available.

If you don't have them, I would also get the original release of "The Little Mermaid" and "The Lion King". The Legacy version of The Little Mermaid is missing some musical elements in a few cues. As for the Lion King, I prefer some of the "album" cues over the "film" score version.

I think the Legacy version of "Pinocchio" has some extra reverb in it. So there's a slight difference between that and the other Pinocchio releases.

Thanks for you help. At the moment I would only be interested on "Pinocchio" and "Cinderella" but I see they both feature on the 1st disc, the same music that was available before (so maybe it would be interesting to get the oldie releases on second hand).

The reverb in "Pinocchio" makes it a worse or best product?

The reverb in "Pinocchio" doesn't bother me. I'm fine with either release. Some however hate reverb so that's why I brought it up.

One other thing, the Legacy version of "Pinocchio" has some wonderful extras not released before.
Songs sung by Jiminy Cricket for other animated shorts like, "You (Are a Human Animal)", and "I'm No Fool".

Also the rerecording of "Cinderella" from the 90's is a must have. It's the green cover which includes a single by Linda Ronstadt.

It's been two years since the last Legacy Collection release. (Robin Hood) All they're doing now is releasing stuff on vinyl. frown
