Should that extra S be part of the title?
John Williams - Film Music would have looked so much better to me.

Yeah, isn't it more common to just use an apostrophe at the end when the name ends in 's'? At least that's how it is in Norway.

In either case, we've been discussing this book with the author over at JWFAN. It's great to finally have a book on the man in ENGLISH. We've been waiting for that for a long time. I'll buy it once I have the funds.

Indeed.

With all due respect to the writer of this new book, I would love Jon Burlingame or "Williams historian" Jeff Elridge to write the definitive biography of John Williams. They are the real experts.

According to The Chicago Manual of Style the title of the book is correct as written. Rule 7.16 (page 354 of the 16th Edition) applies here. Other examples given are "Jesus's adherents" and "Kansas's legislature."
It is common, however, to eliminate the second "s", but that doesn't make it correct.

Well, then, there you have it.

With Williams luckily still alive and writing good music, I'll gladly wait for a comprehensive biography. This book, however, sounds quite intriguing from what I could see on Amazon, being not so much a biography but more an effort to put Williams and some of the scores that made him popular into perspective to film music history up to that time.
I'll definitely keep an eye on this one.

Well, the book is based on a thesis, it's not intended to be a biographical book.

(I'm actually working on assembling information and researching that particular aspect myself -- in hope of maybe publishing a biographical book one day. If no one beats me to it, that is).

I like the way it's been done. But (if you can forgive me using the third person) that's just Chris's opinion..

Really nice interview and I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book this Summer, it was full of great insight and attention to detail.
