Can't wait to receive the new release from Intrada. In the meanwhile, my old CD is getting spun around and around, again and again.
The movie may not have been much to look at and the politics may have been a bit simplistic, but Goldsmith did a wonderful job of perfectly capturing the two families determination, their building hopes - the machinations of the evil East German police state - their dashed expectations and then the final flight to the West and to liberty. In a way, Jerry Goldsmith scored an idealized version of the film (again), one only seen in his mind's eye, but thankfully, heard by all our grateful ears. Stirring stuff!
