I am hopeful for this. But I am not convinced. Clearly Alexandre Desplat knows an orchestra. He also knows what a melody is. The question is, will the director or producers let him write music? Remains to be seen. Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, Monuments Men and Grand Budapest Hotel give me hope. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows does not. Not a bad score, but not emotionally (for me) engaging at all. I understand we're not going to get the legendary Ifukube . Though it would be nice to hear a quote. But are the producers going to let Desplat write music or utilitarian music product?
