You are producing a movie that calls for big, sweeping music as the camera pans over majestic sights like mountains, valleys, plains, etc. Its a romance.

What LIVING composer would you most like to hire?

John Scott, Mark McKenzie, Roque Banos, Robert Folk, Philippe Rombi... I dunno, one of those geniuses among many others...

James Horner (love how he makes sweeping music for nightfalls in Avatar and The Amazing Spider-Man), Alexandre Desplat (something like the second half of Escape From The Camp or Love In The Water for the second Largo Winch score would be great to hear). And obviously, Howard Shore .

James Horner would be my first choice. If not available, than Marco Beltrami. Would love to see him take on an epic like Legends of the Fall. Or maybe John Ottman, I believe it was on The Usual Suspects dvd where he mentioned he'd love to a big epic film

John Williams, obviously. But I would never get him.

I'd hire myself but if I wasn't available it would be Ennio or Andrea Morricone or, in their absence, Stephen McKeon.

My first thought was Ennio Morricone. Then John Williams. But he would turn this romantic picture into a sci-fi action piece quickly. Which is not s bad thing.

Some examples of and who and why:

Lee Holdridge:

Dennis McCarthy:

Randy Edelnman (resutls will vary...)

Ennio Morricone:
No examples needed.

Mark Snow:

Gabriel Yared:
The big, full, and epic sound he demonstrated in pretty much every single cue of his rejected score to "Troy", is all the explination that's needed.

I'd go with Holdridge or Yared, but then again, that's based upon not having seen anything that was shot.

Randy Newman. After him, either Thomas or David, depending on what the project was.

No question. No contest. I always knew my man for this:
