Quartet Records is proud to announce its new release…

MAC AND ME
Music Composed and Conducted by Alan Silvestri
Limited edition of 1000 units

Quartet Records and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer are proud to present the world premiere of one of Alan Silvestri’s major symphonic works—an album long overdue for release.

1988’s Mac and Me paid hapless homage to a certain 1982 blockbuster about the adventures of an adorable, earth-bound alien and his young human friend. But what made Mac and Me stand out from other imitators were its hilariously overt product plugs (including the film debut of an iconic fast-food clown), its barely mobile extraterrestrial, and a tone that swung wildly from cartoonish humor to jaw-dropping peril. And one other element of Mac and Me stood out for being legitimately good—its wonderful score by Alan Silvestri (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, Clean Slate, Cosmos).

The exciting symphonic score—conducted by the composer—is an orchestral tour-de-force which brings us back to the glorious sound of American adventure films in the ’80s. It was written in 1988, between Silvestri’s unforgettable scores for Who’s Framed Roger Rabbit? and The Abyss.

Containing the complete score, mastered both from stereo sources courtesy of MGM and the composer’s personal tapes, the CD includes the two pop songs Silvestri wrote for the film. The 12-page full-color booklet includes liner notes by Daniel Schweiger.

This title are on pre-order now. We expect to receive the CD at the end of this week.

Interesting. For those who haven't seen the film (like me), I see that it will be broadcast on THIS-TV next Sunday, May 4th, at 8 AM ET, and again on May 7th at 9 AM.

I wouldn't say that's a very good idea, unless you like extremely campy 80s garbage or you are up to 5 years old so you might actually enjoy it. In other cases, it's pretty unbearable, but the score is obviously its only salvation.

Cool! I have a strong, nostalgic connection to this film, but remember little of the music.

As a fan or early Silvestri this is a must for me (much like Flight of the Navigator was).

Thank you Quartet for releasing this!

In the name of all that's holy, DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE. This may be the worst thing Alan Silvestri's ever scored (and yes, that does include Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot).

Just buy the album. Trust me.

Love the release but Quartet is so expensive. $36 w shipping to US. Ugh. The score is vintage Silvestri though. Glad to finally have this and can throw that double header boot away! Rudd clip is awesome.

This was another film from the 80's where they just released a song soundtrack for the movie. I remember a copy of it lied there for months in Footlights[record store in New York] even though they were selling it for a very cheap price. Good score.

That's why stuff like LLL's 20% off sale is so great for us Europeans!

Love the release but Quartet is so expensive. $36 w shipping to US. Ugh.

SAE and The Movie Music Store both carry Quartet titles for "regular" prices (like $19.95 for a single disc release). Be sure to check them both for this listing to pop up.

It's there listed by company (click Quartet tab on home page of SAE website) but not yet listed on Silvestri's page if you try to search for it in the "by composer" section. $19.95 as Mike Skerritt indicated, and regular US postage rate.
