Anyone have this CD?
http://www.amazon.com/Farewell-My-Concubine-Themes-Chinese/dp/B00004NRRA

I've been trying to find out just who the composers are for each, and the booklet disagrees with Wikipedia/IMDB on pretty much everything, nor could I find info on any of the composers listed (if they are the composers...the book actually doesn't make it very clear outside the first track attributed to 'traditional')

No, but I'd love to have it. Looks great. I've been meaning to check out Zhao Jiping forever.

I clicked the link, and according to Amazon, I purchased this item in 2006.

....I remember absolutely nothing about it. At $1.60, you should give it a shot and see if you find it memorable.

I don't have the CD, but I did some checking and here's what I came up with for the composers. The only one I couldn't find anything on was My Best Love.

A City of Sadness (S.E.N.S.)
Farewell My Concubine (Zhao Jiping)
A Chinese Ghost Story (Romeo Diaz, James Wong & David Wu)
The Puppetmaster (Chen Ming-chang)
The Osmanthus Alley (Chen Yang)
Temptress Moon (Zhao Jiping)
Eat Drink, Man Woman (Mader)
Red Rose, White Rose (Siu Chung)
A Moment of Romance (Lo Tayu & Fabio Carli)
The Actress a.k.a. Center Stage (Johnny Chen)
My Best Love
Red Dust (Lo Tayu and Shih Jei-Yong)
The Swordsman (Jim Wong)

Thor, if you're looking to check our Zhao Jiping, his Electric Shadows album would be a great place to start.

Right, which as I said doesn't seem to match at all.

For as a couple examples of the (apparently) more famous movies it lists:
A City of Sadness as Kachikawa Naoki
Farewell My Concubine as Lee Tzung Sheng
Eat Drink Man Woman as Ryo Aska
A Chinese Ghost Story as Huang Jan

The only agreement on that list seems to be for The Osmathus Alley.

If James Fitzpatrick is reading, perhaps he can shed some light, given he apparently produced it...

Thanks for the recommendation, Squiddy. Curiously, no Tan Dun on the compilation, arguably the greatest contemporary star of Chinese film music (and orchestral music in general).

Unfortunately, with the exorbitant shipping prices Amazon lists for used CD's, the total will be MUCH higher -- $20 is the cheapest option for non-US people, almost the same price as the new CD.

I just double checked on Farewell My Concubine. In addition to Jiping's score, the theme song is by Jonathan Lee Chung-Shing so I would say that one is right.

This CD is not the SCORE from the movies, it just the melody of every movies' title song.
So the composers the booklet listed are not the score composers, they're song winters.
Most of them are China famous pop song singers/writers.

Most of the films had released the score CD, but they're nearly all OOP now.

I'm not sure I understand.

Are you saying they are song cover versions of the themes?

I don't understand what a 'melody version' is. Is it an instrumental version (a new interpretation) of the main themes?

LOL..
the main themes you mentioned means the main theme of the score or theme songs?
in your words, it's an instrumental version without lyrics of the film theme songs. This CD is totally irrelevant to the score.

I'm totally confused now. Probably a language issue.

Let me try again: All of the films on the list have film songs in addition to regular score, and these are new versions of these film songs?
