John Carpenter with almost all the Halloween series.

In fact I think he was only directly involved in I and III.
Alan Howarth adapted his music for part II and scored IV, V and VI ( using Carpenter themes)

From the lists above
With 21 original+sequeis John Williams seems to have scored more sequels than any other (even if you take out Superman IV he still remains in first place) and counting, with the forthcoming Star Wars
Jerry scored 19 original+sequels
John Barry seems to have scored most "sequels" on a same series (11 James Bond, but not the first)

Max Steiner scored FOUR DAUGHTERS. He then scored FOUR WIVES, using the established motifs and expanding Max Rabinowich's theme for John Garfield's "symphony" into a tone poem, "Symphony Moderne". Heinz Roemheld then scored the third entry, FOUR WIVES, but using Max's motifs as well as his own. He also took Max's main theme and turned it into a song, "Moonlight and Tears".

Is Jerry Goldsmith the composer who leads in this regard?

1. PLANET OF THE APES, ESCAPE FROM THE PLANET OF THE APES

2. OUR MAN FLINT, IN LIKE FLINT

3. THE OMEN, DAMIEN OMEN II, THE FINAL CONFLICT (SHEFFER USED HIS THEMES IN OMEN IV)

4. FIRST BLOOD, RAMBO FIRST BLOOD PART II, RAMBO III (TYLER USED HIS THEMES IN RAMBO)

5. GREMLINS, GREMLINS II THE NEW BATCH

6. POLTERGEIST, POLTERGEIST II THE OTHER SIDE

7. STAR TREK THE MOTION PICTURE, STAR TREK V THE FINAL FRONTIER, STAR TREK FIRST CONTACT, STAR TREK INSURRECTION, STAR TREK NEMESIS.

Please add if I have missed some.

What other composers wrote the score for the first film and all or some sequels?

Could we include:

8. THE TWILIGHT ZONE TV SERIES, TWILIGHT ZONE : THE MOVIE

9. THE HOMECOMING : A CHRISTMAS STORY, THE WALTONS TV SERIES

I know you said Original Films and I have included TV series, but they are extensions of the originals.

Rush Hour 1,2,3

Lalo Schifrin didn't do the third Dirty Harry movie (that was by Jerry Fielding).

In that case may I submit Fred Steiner? smile

Defined the sound of the original Star Trek, composed a chunk of Star Trek: The Motion Picture, and scores an early episode of the spinoff...

Quincy Jones did "In the Heat of the Night" and the first sequel, "They Call Me Mr. Tibbs".

The third film ("The Organization") was scored by Gil Melle.

Franz Waxman scored "Peyton Place"and the sequel "Return to Peyton Place".

I can't believe no one has mentioned yet Morricone and the trilogy of the man with no name.
