If you take the quiz and borrow someone else's answers, you get to be James Horner.

If you repeat the quiz, you get to be John Barry.

At first, I was sure I would get Rozsa, but toward the end of the quiz I knew I was heading for Goldsmith. And I was!

I ended up with John Williams (no surprise) but I must have had Rozsa as a close second because I did choose "researching ethnic instruments" and such. They're all such amazing greats so it's not an insult to be named any of them. I have collections of Goldsmith, Williams, Rozsa, and Hermann (and Steiner which I don't think was on this).

It was interesting to me since I write music to see these great kinda... watered down/generalized into a few simple statements about their works and to see what I tend to do. There were some obvious questions/answers in the set too but It's a nifty little test.

I got Jerry but as with you other cool cats, I could have pretty much ended up with anyone I wanted based on the possible answers provided. Fun quiz! I could see where you might even end up with Hans Zimmer if that's how your bread is buttered.

I will say this. Arriving at a web page that announces "You are Jerry Goldsmith!" is a pleasure I never even knew was available and now that it has happened once, I want the World Wide Web to greet me that way every day!

Rozsa.

I was expecting Goldsmith, for some reason.

That's about the silliest quiz I've ever taken, and if you know anything about the composers you know who you're going to get beforehand. Also, I take issue with the following:

"You are Miklos Rozsa. A much-respected classical composer with an old world aesthetic and distinctly 19th century sound."

Distinctly 19th century sound? How ironic, when Rozsa ran into troble early in his career for not being 19th century enough. If you want 19th century you look to Steiner or Korngold, not Rozsa.

Nice group photo. I recognize Waxman, Newman, Herrmann, Darby, and (at far right) Friedhofer. Who are the other two? Guessing maybe Alex North and Mockridge or Stevens?

The Rozsa photo (by an uncredited Derek Elley)was taken during the London recording sessions for a late film, possibly HOOVER.

It's the 'distinctly' that got me. Except for that I'd have been alright.

Yes, that's Ken Darby. But the composer to his right, I believe, is David Buttolph.

I got Jerry Goldsmith. I kind of knew it from the answers I was choosing.
