THURSDAY, APRIL 10 TIMECOP---reboot movie underway of the 1994 Peter Hyams movie that starred Jean-Claude Van Damme. The writers are Brian and Mark Gunn (JOURNEY 2: THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND). THE LATE SHOW---CBS announced that Stephen Colbert will replace David Letterman when he retires in 2015. STAR WARS: EPISODE VII---newcomer actress Maisie Richardson-Sellers is reportedly a top candidate to play a "young black or mixed-race woman who may be a descendent of Jedi Knight Ben Kenobi". Also, Disney will build a new recreation of Tatooine to replace the decaying old ones in Tunisia. THE MARTIAN---Matt Damon may star in this movie about an astronaut who must survive on Mars after his fellow astronauts depart thinking he was killed in a dust storm. Director Drew Goddard has left the movie due to a schedule conflict with THE SINISTER SIX. X-MEN---producer Lauren Shuler Donner said she is interested in developing spin-off movies, “I’d like to do Gambit. I’d like to do Deadpool. We’ll see. There’s a lot of really great characters." Producer/writer Simon Kinberg said he wants a Mystique movie, “I love what Jen Lawrence has done with her, and I feel like because she is in such a crowded ensemble, there’s so much more opportunity if you were to follow her solo.” An EW reader poll wants the following spin-offs: Deadpool (24%), Gambit (21%), X-Force (19%), Storm (17%), Mystique (11%), and Magneto (8%). SAUSAGE PARTY---Salma Hayek will be the voice of a taco in Sony Pictures' R-rated animated comedy movie about a sausage and his food friends who fall out of a supermarket shopping cart and must return to their aisles before the 4th of July sale. The cast includes Seth Rogen, James Franco, Kristen Wiig and Edward Norton. SILENCE PATTON: FIRST VICTIM OF THE COLD WAR---feature-length documentary underway claiming that Gen. George S. Patton's death caused by a truck hitting his staff car was really an assassination by the Soviet Union to end his staunchly anti-communist views. PARAMOUNT TELEVISION---Paramount TV is developing new tv series based on movies including THE TERMINATOR, GHOST which starred Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore, THE TRUMAN SHOW which starred Jim Carrey and the novel THE ALIENIST. A miniseries is underway based on a biography of Charles Lindbergh and a US version of the BBC/Peter Moffat series THE VILLAGE. HELL ON WHEELS---Canadian country singer MacKenzie Porter joins the cast as Cullen Bohannon's Mormon wife. GENIUS---movie underway based on the biography MAX PERKINS: EDITOR OF THE GENIUS which is about the relationship between editor Max Perkins and writer Thomas Wolfe. Michael Fassbender, Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman star. The script is by John Logan (SKYFALL).
