www.elliotgoldenthal.com is now live. Pretty coll site with photos from all his stage work and other things I didn't know existed. A Requiem?
For years I've been frustrated with no news on the Goldenthal front. It seems starting with the big Krakow concert in 2012, we then got Othello (which I saw in Chicago) at the Joffrey ballet. Then "A Midsummer Night's Dream (which I saw in Brooklyn) in fall 2013. Then his chamber music CD release in April.
On Friday, there was a screening of Titus in New York. In four weeks on May 2, Goldenthal turns 60. On May 6th Othello Symphony is released (currently on pre-order from Amazon and iTunes), and on May 8,9,10 we have the world premiere of his new Symphony in G# Minor at the Pacific Symphony. And now a website! what the hell!
And on September 24th he will be in Prague to attend upcoming FILM MUSIC PRAGUE festival, which will feature among others lengthy suite from Titus, Cobb and finale from Alien 3, latest of which he will conduct himself.

Great to see a site like this up and running -- and obviously the activity in the Goldenthal camp lately, although we're still missing a proper return to film scoring. At some point, I'd like to see him do a more commercial film again, even though he has expressed a reluctance to do so.
The filmography is missing some things, like his adaptation work on VOICES FROM A LOCKED ROOM or the recent rerecording of ROSWELL on BSX.

We both, Thor. Although it is very unlikely that Elliot will be scoring any of them now...and that's not just because of the lack of energy or him being very selective with his projects. Pity coz he's such an immense talent!
I think it's great. Goldenthal has always had lots of activity outside of film. I think of some other composers who don't have that and I wonder what's going on. Like Don Davis for example. But Williams has Spielberg, Burton has Elfman, Goldenthal has Taymor. They'll do more films together and that's great. I wish he did more films too but I love Othello and pieces like Fire,Water,Paper so much I don't care what he's writing for as long as he's writing.
I look forward to Grendel, and can't wait for this Symphony. I liked the Bass Sonata on the new Chamber Music album. And that string quartet is intense!
