Caldera Records is proud to present the original score for the well-received Norwegian production King of Devil’s Island from 2010, starring Stellan Skarsgard and featuring one of the best scores of acclaimed composer Johan Söderqvist (Let the Right One In, Kon-Tiki). The movie tells the (true) story of a group of teenagers who are prisoners on the Norwegian island Bastoy and who start to rebel against the authorities. The movie earned several awards, including the Amanda Award (Norway) in 2011 for Best Original Score. Söderqvist wrote an ice-cold, chilly and eerie orchestral score which may be the saddest music you have ever heard. With a strong main theme, which is presented in variations both for Hardanger Fiddle and piano, the composer evokes the snow-white landscape of Bastoy musically, using unusual instruments such as the Contrabass-Willow Flute, the Clayflute and the Electric Baritone Guitar. As a bonus, we included an insightful audio-commentary in form of a half hour discussion with composer Johan Söderqvist, sound-designer Tormod Ringnes and director Marius Holst who discuss both the music and the movie in detail. The second CD-release of Caldera Records features a detailed booklet-text by Gergely Hubai and elegant artwork by Luis Miguel Rojas. The CD was produced by Stephan Eicke and John Elborg. 1. Prologue (1:36) 2. The Arrival (1:54) 3. First Night (0:58) 4. The Latrine (0:48) 5. The Riot (2:03) 6. The Lineup (0:32) 7. The Escape (1:40) 8. Alone I (1:52) 9. The Woods (0:52) 10. This score is so amazing! And the movie is one of my favorite movies of all time. Seen it a thousand times. Back in 2010 when it was released I was desperate for a score soundtrack! Spent several years stalking both Johan and the creators of the movie. Until I eventually just gave up on it. Then last year I totally randomly stumbled upon it on iTunes! I was shocked to see it had been available for 3 years already without knowing about it! haha! I instantly bought it on iTunes. Didn`t know until now that it also had a physical release. I want it! But seems unavailable on most places now :/ Great to hear that we could make you happy! You can Like us on Facebook or bookmark our homepage caldera-records.com to be kept updated on GREAT score releases! KING OF DEVIL'S ISLAND has a very special place in my heart although I probably shouldn't say this as father of 24 CDs.

Slighty off-topic, but Caldera related. Do you have any Pinar Toprak music or scores in the proposed or planning stages? You have championed her music, to great effect, in the past. Cheers! LOVE Pinar! I'll met with her in April to discuss new plans - because you can never have enough Pinar. It's very much on my wish list. Not that gender matters but we are also very excited about hopefully releasing a heartrenderingly beautiful score by another great female artist this year.

Yeah, thanks for the heads-up. Hope something pans out with Pinar. I'm loving the stuff I've heard so far.
