Warner Bros. has revealed the Warner Archive Collection Blu-ray releases of director Roy Rowland's Hit the Deck (1955) and director John Milius' The Wind and the Lion (1975). The studio has yet to officially announce a street date, but both titles are already available for pre-order at Amazon.
I watched my dvd of THE WIND AND THE LION for the first time in years. I could have sworn that the dvd also included commentary by Candice Bergen, but in fact the only commentary is by John Milius. I haven't decided if I 'll get the Blu-ray version.
The Blu-ray does look really good (as do all the Warner Archive Blu-ray releases), & is not expensive & is multi-region. The thing is, these films don't get looked at much, but as a life-long film fan I do get a kick out of owning them. As someone wrote on some forum (I forget), having a good Blu-ray is a bit like owning your own print.

In the commentary by Milius, he had positive comments about Sean Connery and Candice Bergen in the movie. I've read that he had negative comments about them many years ago. I thought Brian Keith did a very good job of playing Teddy Roosevelt. This is on my Amazon Wishlist, but since I already have the dvd, I would get the Blu-ray only if the price is right.
