That's nothing to do with downloads. It's all to do with someone not bothering to provide notes. FSM has provided online notes (available as pdf) and that's nothing to do with whether the releases were CDs or downloads. Chandos provide full booklet pdf notes with their film music and other downloads through the Classical Shop, etc, etc.
And those are in the minority. The majority of DLs available online that do have booklets in their CD form DON'T in their DL form. It's quite often impossible to find even a back cover and when one does it's only because someone posted it on Amazon. Even on The Classical Shop it's mostly only Chandos CDs that have the book.
As I'd hoped was apparent (but was apparently not apparent enough), my point was that lack of information is not format-specific. Some downloads have plenty, others don't. Some CDs have plenty, others don't. Feel free to object all you want, but it's an invention to suggest that the problem is unique to downloads.
If you read my comment clearly, you'd notice I said "I'm sure we all have CD's like that". So how you come to the conclusion that your "format-specific" point wasn't apparent enough is anyone's guess, Schiffy-type-person.
I have all 4 volumes and the music is great stuff. Sure, physical CDs would have been great, a nice 3 CD set to hold all the music, nice booklet, etc.
Curious if any labels were interested in this? Given Varese's history with Silvestri, seems they would have been a good match for this. But since apparently Silvestri himself was the one who managed to get the stuff released, seems it was an easier route to do downloads.
I'd like someone else to take over, to be honest. Silvestri's work was great but we also got a whole bunch of it and it would be nice to hear fresh blood.

I’ve been saying that about John Williams and Star Wars for YEARS!
