Five scores from David Raksin we're unlikely to see:

Apache (1954)
The Big Combo (1955)
Jubal (1956)
Al Capone (1959)
A Big Hand for the Little Lady (1966)

It doesn't seem that we'll ever get Tangerine Dream's The Keep, a full 95 minutes.

Or TD's The Soldier. City Of Shadows. Rainbow Drive. Red Heat ( not the walter hill film but the chicks in prison film ).

Various Ira Newborn scores - as mentioned above, Planes, Trains & Automobiles as well as Into The Night.

For various reasons, these five will never see the light of day in stereo from the "original" recording masters:

"The Sun Also Rises" -- Hugo Friedhofer
"El Cid" -- Miklos Rozsa
"Hawaii" -- Elmer Bernstein
"The High and the Mighty" - Dimitri Tiomkin
"The Mark of Zorro" -- Alfred Newman (not stereo, sadly....but all seems gone of what there was).

And a regretful sixth:

"The Big Country" -- some swear it was recorded in stereo, but no proof has ever been found of that, recording-wise.

Don't have 5 but I've been looking for the original Speed Racer (Mach Go Go Go) tracks forever and only have only found a handful.

Yes, there was 'proof' THE BIG COUNTRY was indeed recorded in stereo except I don't recall what website and/or thread.

I asked Howard Shore if we'd ever get to hear his "King Kong," at a book-signing event here in N.Y.

He said YES, but didn't say when. Doug Adams was standing right there when he said it. Does Doug still check in here at the board?

Occasionally.

It'll still happen eventually, I believe. Some reconstruction would be necessary for a proper release, so it's largely a matter of finding the proper schedule. We'll see.

There's some ferocious writing in Shore's Kong, but I feel it's the gentile cantilenas that really distinguish the score.

The full score to "Damnation Alley" has not been released. As mentioned numerous times before, the synth parts of the score are missing; they have to turn up, or somebody has to be paid to recreate them, before a proper release of the score can occur.

That's why it's in a thread for "impossible-to-release scores".

I wouldn't be so bothered about the complete film tracks for 'Ryan's Daughter' (although I believe they are lost), I would happily settle for a release in decent sound of the original album. The CD release I have from some years back is unlistenable so bad is the sound quality.
