The NBCUniversal-owned cable network made the official announcement Tuesday, midway through the show's current 13-episode run. "Showrunner Anna Fricke and the talented producers, writers, cast and crew have done an amazing job bringing this show to life over the past four seasons and we sincerely thank them and the series’ production company Muse Entertainment for their hard work," Syfy said in a statement announcing the cancellation. "They’ve saved the best for last with the final six episodes that revisit the story’s beginning, leading to a not-to-be-missed send-off for Aidan, Sally, Josh and Nora." Syfy promises that the final episodes will be "full of twists, turns and surprises that will culminate in a spectacular series finale" set to air April 7. Being Human, a North American adaptation of the popular U.K. supernatural drama of the same name (which ended in 2013) centering on a werewolf, vampire and ghost who live together, debuted in January 2011 to nearly 2 million viewers. The current season picked up four months after the events of the season-three finale. Never a ratings hit, Being Human hovered around 1 million viewers for its most recent run of episodes. Executive producers are Fricke, Michael Prupas, Stefan Pleszczynski, Rob Pursey and Toby Whithouse. Irene Litinsky is producer. The news of Being Human's cancellation comes at an interesting time for Syfy, which has gone through an executive reorganization. On Monday, Syfy reality chief Tim Krubsack departed the company, while Syfy Films senior vp Gregory Noveck and director of development Joshua Banta exited in November. Bill McGoldrick also replaced Mark Stern as exec vp original content for Syfy. At the moment, the remaining scripted originals on Syfy's docket are Ron Moore's Helix, Haven (with a supersized fifth season), Bitten, Defiance, the final season of Warehouse 13 and the upcoming Dominion, as well as Canadian dramas Lost Girl and Continuum. Being Human airs its final episodes starting March 3 at 9 p.m. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/syfy-cancels-being-human-683436

What a dismal line-up. Do they have a single program that's anything better than mediocre? Being Human is/was good, when it focused more on being fun, and less on being dramatic. I'm about 1.5 seasons behind on Lost Girl, but that one was also a lot of fun.

I'm about 1.5 seasons behind on Lost Girl, but that one was also a lot of fun. I gave Being Human a try, and found it slightly lesser than the BBC version, which itself wasn't really my cup of tea. Lost Girl I gave an episode, which may not be fair on my part, and again found that it didn't work for me. I did watch a whole season of Continuum, which has a fun concept marred by truly lousy writing and some poor acting. I hear Defiance got better as it went on? I guess I just don't get it -- with shows like these it wouldn't be any more expensive to film a good script than a mediocre one -- why isn't there a little more emphasis on the front end of the process to make sure that all the polished effects and beautiful people in the final product are in service of stories that aren't too dull and or stupid to be entertaining?

I've always enjoyed the American version and never miss it, so it'll be a loss for me, although I must confess that even this fan was growing a bit weary of it this season. Was glad that actor Sam Huntington grew a beard to look scruffier and more wolf-like!!!

Re: Did Haven get any better? I couldn't finish the first season, too watered down for my taste. I just discovered it last season and enjoyed it, but then got exasperated because every episode seemed so predictable that I stopped watching it.

Warehouse 13 is nice because of it's almost 90's sci-fi TV vibe, other then that. What happened to the Scyfy that was doing quality stuff like BSG?
