With the upcoming release of 24: Live Another Day and Sean Callery once again returning to score, could we see another release of music? The last scores to be released were Seasons 4-5 and 24: Redemption, leaving a vast amount of music unreleased. This would be a great opportunity by someone like La-la-land!

To take a quote from THE GODFATHER PART 3
"Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in"
I'm glad to hear that Sean Callery is still going to be the composer for the new season of 24. The show wouldn't be the same without his score. I just really wish that someone would be allowed to release it on CD. We got nothing for seasons 6, 7, or 8, and season 7 had some of his best work yet. And it's not like there are a bunch of reuse fees, since, as far as I can tell, the scores were entirely synthesized.
Any news on this front? The music for the new 12-part series, which will end this coming week, is terrific (although I did hear a few cues from earlier seasons) ... will it be released?
The music for this season of 24 has been fantastic. I haven't paid close enough attention - has Sean Callery been using an orchestra for this season?
Not very frequently. I found the music largely generic background music though it has been improving slowly as the show goes on. Nothing really stands out though.
Wholeheartedly agreed, my friend! I sincerely hope that Live Another Day is released on CD. Perhaps Varese?
I found it to be so bad it was seriously distracting. Especially his sad attempt at emotional music. Usually Callery's scores are not very front and center (Bones, Elementary, Shark, Medium) but here it was just hilarious to think that whoever was in charge of this show didn't realize how seriously bad Callery's score was when it was actually let take over.

Oh, you mean the guys who review and approve is work every week on the shows they HIRE HIM to score?
You mean the work that earned him a EMMY?
I'd love to see you explain to the producers of those shows why they are so wrong in hiring him...
Did you ever see ANNIE HALL?
I suspect if you have you know the scene in the film that I'm thinking of.

Disagree with that completely. The score in this season, especially the Wembley Stadium scenes & the finale, was some of the best music I've ever heard from Callery. I hope it gets a proper release.
Another vote from me on a soundtrack release. There were moments in the penultimate episode of LAD that I swore I maybe thought I was listening to an orchestra.
Would also still love to see a S6-8 release as well. And I really wish they would give him a proper orchestra to score with - some of the cheese factor some people may be getting is perhaps from the fact it is still restricted to all synth (I think).
It would be great to see more 24 music on CD, from Varese or anyone. Since Varese stopped after 3 discs, my guess is the sales weren't there to justify more albums.
Live Another Day had some great musical moments even when the series turned out to be a bit lackluster ( for me at least ), and a score release...even digital...would be nice. Maybe something will happen to coincide with the DVD/ Blu Ray release.
Plus, the ratings were decent and the Fox chairman has said he'd like to see more 24... so perhaps we'll have another season and more music and maybe even an album or two.
Funny, I was just listening to my favorite 24 cue yesterday, "Jack in the Limo" from the Seasons 1-3 release. Such an awesome statement of the main theme. Excellent theme. Thought to myself when listening to it how much I would love to hear it in full orchestra mode, although I do dig the electronic supplementation, it just begs for an epic acoustic presentation.
I like a lot of the 24 music, some of it I love, but unfortunately a lot of it is (to me) poorly executed synth presentation. If more acoustic instrumentation had been supplied (I realize this was probably either impossible or not the composer's choice or any other number of reasons) I would have enjoyed it more. As it stands, I do enjoy a lot of it, but as a whole it doesn't stand up alongside some of the great TV music that I love.
I think the instrumentation plays into the unique 24 sound. Assuming 24 ever comes back, I would rather they keep with the playbook, or at least don't make the switch too quickly. The orchestral stuff on the S4-5 score which was recorded from the video game was not significantly revelatory, IMO.
Do you expect to release a commercial score of 24: Live Another Day? I would very much like to. I have heard from some fans requesting music from Seasons 6-8. I am trying to get it all done.
Boy, I sure hope this is true and that it's coming soon. 24:LAD had some great musical moments. So did seasons 7 and 8. I'd like to forget that season 6 ever happened.
