Alhambra Records are now at Facebook:

https://www.facebook.com/AlhambraRecords

Since the end of last year Alhambra Records has also released three new CDs and one new 2-CD-Set:

1. DONNA LEON - BRUNETTI (2-CD-Set)

Music from the first four episodes:

Episodes 1+2 were composed by Ulrich Reuter with an epic Italian theme, operatic music, but also with dark suspense tracks. Music is performed by the Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock and conducted by Frank Strobel. Also included in this CD-set is the concert suite with themes from the episodes 1+2 performed by the Philharmonie Baden-Baden.

Episodes 3+4 were composed by Florian Appl. He introduces a great new theme for Brunetti. Florian Appl' s scores include aspects of minimal music and baroque music. The score is performed by the Filmorchester Babelsberg which is conducted by Bernd Wefelmeyer.

Also part of this CD-set is the famous main title theme by André Rieu.

You will find a first introduction at SAE:

-----------------------------

2. IN EINEM WILDEN LAND - Karim Sebastian Elias

"In einem wilden Land" tells the true story of German immigrants making a pact with the Comanches. The heroine of the film is the young German weaver Mila (Emilia Schüle). She lost her husband during a mid-18th Century workers' uprising. She now pursues on her own their original plan to emigrate to America, where she has to realize that she either needs a male companion or has
to stay at the coast. The leader of the trek is a choleric Graf (Benno Fürmann). Mila almost kills him when he wants to rape his wife Cecilie (Nadja Uhl). During their flight the weaver and the countess run straight into the arms of the Indians. Mila is equally repelled and fascinated by the foreign culture and she is fascinated by the charismatic Buffalo Hump (played by Canadian actor Wesley French).

Virtually an acoustic starring role is reserved for the large orchestral music: Elias avoids the well-known Western clichés and instead fascinates with variations of the folk song "Kein schöner Land", which perfectly reflects the optimism of the settlers. The music is performed by the Brandenburgische Staatsorchester Frankfurt, conducted by Jörg Iwer - Chorus: Singakademie FFO.

Short excerpts you will find at SAE:

-----------------------------

3. INSPEKTOR JURY - Marcel Barsotti

The movie is based on a book by Martha Grimes. The melodic score has been composed by Marcel Barsotti, best known for Sea Wolf (2008) or Pope Joan (2009).

You will find a first introduction at SAE:

http://www1.screenarchives.com/title_detail.cfm/ID/26727/INSPEKTOR-JURY-INSPECTOR-JURY/

------------------------------

4. FÜNF FREUNDE 1-3 - Wolfram De Marco

The CD contains highlights from the three young-adventure-movies with characters created by Enid Blyton. Music composed by Wolfram De Marco (LOFT, 2008). His charming, sweeping scores are performed by the Macedonian Radio Symphonic with great Tango and Salsa rhythms, banjo and accordion sounds.

You will find short excerpts at SAE:

To Alhambra: Any chance to re-issue Werner Fassbinder Film Music (3cd). I can't find this one anywhere.

Also more Lavagnino or German Golden Age classics would be welcome. I already have the Majewski and Wilhem box sets.

Just a guess, but was there any Sherlock Holmes influence on this INSPEKTOR JURY?

Yes, we have the same feelings about the music by Karim Sebastian Elias :-)

Sadly, I can' t make any promises concerning Peer Raben/Werner Fassbinder at the moment. If you find this set somewhere my suggestion would be to grab it and not to wait for a reissue.

We are very proud about our three 6CD box sets. If you don' t know it, there is also a box set with music by Enjott Schneider:

You mentioned Majewski - it is one of our most important releases concerning Golden Age of German Film music. Because of this it is highly recommended:

I've heard the sound on this box is not the best.

Personally I still think the music by Enjott Schneider is so good that on the whole this 6-CD-Set is a no brainer.

By the way at the moment I' m listening to one of my absolutely favorite German scores of the last five years: "Simon and the Oaks" (composer: Annette Focks). My favorite track: "Journey to Berlin".

In Einem Wilden Land sounds pretty good!

By the way, especially very good is the intimate, melodic music by composer Karim Sebastian Elias.

For example a few sound examples of GERDAS SCHWEIGEN you will find at SAE:

Both Annette Focks' THREE INVESTIGATORS scores are fantastic and also have been available for years, so no idea why it is suddenly listed as new release after several years. Actually you can find copies of this album everywhere for like 5 eur including shipping.

Two new great CDs by Alhambra Records ( https://de-de.facebook.com/AlhambraRecords ) are now available at SAE:

1. PEST - DIE RÜCKKEHR (RETURN OF THE PLAGUE)

Music composed by Ulrich Reuter
Original Film Music Performed by the Czech Symphony Orchestra Prague, conducted by Frank Strobel
Concert Suite Performed by the Philharmonie Baden-Baden, conducted by Karl Albert Geyer

What would happen if the plague breaks out in Cologne (Germany)? This is the story of the disaster movie from 2002. The music was composed by Ulrich Reuter and performed by the Czech Symphony Orchestra Prague. Archaic, dark melodies characterize the plague, but also emotional and highly dramatic tracks are a part of the score. In addition to the original score, the CD includes a concert suite from "Return of the Plague" performed by the Philharmonie Baden-Baden and conducted by Karl Albert Geyer. After "Donna Leon - Brunetti" (A 9016), "Return of the Plague" is the second release with music by Ulrich Reuter in the Alhambra Records catalogue. The CD contains a detailed 12-page booklet with photos from the film and with commentaries by the composer.

You would find some sample tracks at SAE:

Performed by the Filmorchestra Babelsberg, conducted by Bernd Wefelmeyer

Two great scores by Florian Appl (DONNA LEON: Brunetti) with beautiful themes and dramatic music. Both scores are performed by the Filmorchestra Babelsberg and also at both movies the female lead role is played by Julia Jäger. CD has a duration of about 80 minutes and a detailed 16-page-booklet.

(For some reason I can' t post the video directly here. I don' t know what I do wrong, perhaps someone could help - thanks a lot).

I think the URL between the code needs to be a 'youtube.com' one, not a 'youtu.be' one, and needs to start with 'http' and not 'https':
[you tube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibu542gcocI[/you tube]
If you remove the blanks between 'you' and 'tube', it should look like this:

Feel free to still include it in your above post and I will remove mine smile

WILDE WELLEN - Karim Sebastian Elias

That cover intrigued me, the look of it seemed familiar. In turns out the movie takes place in Brittany, my country. I'll have to check this one out smile
