Thought the Milan album was decent, but what exactly would I be missing not getting this...just as a curious question?

Nearly 45 minutes of previously unreleased score!

All the stuff in the colosseum, decapitation, basketball sequence, Queen Mary, Snake getting geared up (much like Orientation #2 from NY. I love this one) , Snake getting scratched, the defense lab.... Lots and lots of great unreleased bits.

The extended version of History of Los Angeles is also much better.

I'm psyched for an expanded Escape From LA! Surprised that it's limited to only 1500. I would think the triple cool things (Carpenter, Walker, cult 90's movie fav) its got going for it would bump it to at least 2000? I see this one selling out pretty quickly, but maybe that's just me. One of my fav movies of 96!

I was surprised by the number of copies as well and also expected 2000 units. I have a feeling this will sell out as well. I'll have to push other previous LLLR releases aside that I've yet to purchase for this one. I've never owned the original Milan album, but I'm a fan of Walker's and Carpenter's music, in general. So I plan on purchasing it ASAP.

I'm not delaying on this one either. I'll pick it up with 'Falling Down' from SAE.

I have the score cd and really like it. I don't know if the additional cues are essential.
But, if you missed the earlier release this is a must buy!

LIsten to this score and tell me SW wouldn't have made a great 007 composer!

I think the only reason I would be on the fence about this release is whether the majority of the unreleased cues are orchestral or not. I dig the synth tracks, but significant unreleased Walker cues would be the selling point for me...

Carpenter is the only director I know of that scores his own films and rejects them!
Sounds like he may have done some of this here, and I know for a fact he did on
THE FOG - it's documented he dumped his first pass on the score. Dumped the first pass
on the film too....

I don't recall where I found this, but here's a link to a blog about The Thing from one of the producers detailing Carpenter's late in the game, massive overhaul and refocusing of the film. A great account of the editorial Carpenter at work:

Listen to this earlier this evening. And enjoyed every minute of it. There's a lot going on in the score. Those 78 1/2 minutes went by smoothly too. One of the best sci-fi action adventure scores of 90s, imo. I could tell Walker and Carpenter had a blast writing it as I did listening to it. Thank you LLL for releasing this in complete form.

No, just a different soundtrack. Carpenter's interests in scoring styles changed some years ago, so something similar to NY would never have happened anyway.

Shirley Walker contributed some great music, and the reworked rock version of the Escape From NY theme is fantastic.

It isn't what I think of as a classic John Carpenter score but it is good

I save only ESCAPE FROM L.A. Main Title
As big fan and owner of many of his soundtrack I'm pissed of with Him
JC should explane why he lost his touch and his tastes in music ,the movie itself is a JOKE and Of course this Soundtrack a sort of Ira Newborn Naked gun meet Ernest Troost 's Tremors...
