Just wondering if anyone has heard any rumors about a possible re-release of this soundtrack. I have the original FSM release, but unfortunately it's starting to show signs of its age. It's one of my favorite John Williams scores of that period, and it would be awesome if it became available again at a price that is somewhat less than the national debt.
Just wondering if anyone has heard any rumors about a possible re-release of this soundtrack. I have the original FSM release.
If such rumours are true can someone please let me know privately so that I can arrange to sell my FSM copy in advance of anyone else knowing about the new release which should enable me to pay off all my debts.
Honestly, with all the re-releases of the last time, it's really just a matter of time till this gem gets re-released as well! So if anybody indeed wants to make any profit with this, you should probably consider selling it rather sooner or later ...
BTW Today I noticed that the single most expansive CD in my collection ($150) just got re-released for a mere $10. Luckily I never intended to keep it as an investment and having had it for 4 years already was well worth the extra 140$ to me!
If any of the major labels are working on a new edition of this classic can they tell us or at least give us a hint?
And if you want someone to write authoritative liner notes, check my profile and contact me -- I'll do it for FREE!
Seriously though this much under-rated gem from John Williams is in need of an expansion. Just check the myriad of threads on this message board about it -- and what could be made to fit a 2-CD version.
The high prices the fantastic FSM disc from 2001 commands proves there's a demand for it surely? We soundtrack afionados have been really blessed in the last decade with the plethora of expansions and reissues. There's constant talk of people still clamoring for this and those who missed out the first time it was issued on compact disc. Williams' work is always seems to be a point of reference for film score lovers and I agree with the above poster who said TTI and PA should never be out of print.
I don't know how financially lucrative limiting a release is, to say 3000 or 4000 units -- but why not think ahead and make it 10,000 so that it's around a bit longer? At least from a business perspective that sounds more viable, but of course it means a big initial outlay upfront by the record label.
I'm really surprised a grail out of production for this length of time hasn't been re-released yet. Thought for sure this would have been reissued within the last few years.
last chance. anyone want to save me from doing something stupid?
I wouldn't if I were you
this is why la la land is my favorite. beyond customer service they are label looking out for your well-being. whether or not it comes from them, what a public service! All hail the monkey. With this money saved I should be able to clear out your black friday offerings!
Ok, I'm confused. Did LLL just hint that they are about to release a new version of The Towering Inferno or were they just telling another collector 'DON'T' sell their copy of TTI?
Was the "something stupid" foxmorty was going to do be paying a lot of money for a used copy of FSM's TTI, or was it going to be selling his copy of FSM's TTI?
I have the original FSM release, but unfortunately it's starting to show signs of its age.
Or do you mean the sound quality? I wouldn`t mind a remastered release that went back to the original multi track recording. The FSM release definetely doesn`t sound very crisp and "detailed".
