Thank you, misterkane, for contributing to the discography of Piero Piccioni;
2014 looks to be another year (like 2013) full of new Piccioni albums! smile

These will be two nice scores on one CD. BENVENUTO CELLINI has a lot of Renaissance feeling often with prominent use of the lute. There is also the beautiful track "Fantasia pastorale" which was on the old General Music LP of LE MONACHE DI SANT'ARCANGELO with 3:36 minutes (track 4 on side A), but which Piccioni for some reason did not want on the Digitmovies CD in 2003.
I am not quite sure yet, but considering its duration it could now well be track 13 on this Saimel CD.
Anyway, both BENVENUTO CELLINI and MONACHE were composed in 1972 - so maybe "Fantasia pastorale" was originallly even meant for CELLINI.
There are also a few tracks which Piccioni did rework from his rejected L'UOMO CHE RIDE score. I don't know if all of them will be on this CD.
GIACOMO CASNAOVA on the other hand is more in a lovely Baroque style and often anticipates some of his music composed a few years later for IL MALATO IMMAGINARIO.

I got this Saimel CD from Dusty Groove yesterday (my first soundtrack purchase in 2014).

While the stereo portion of this disc for CASANOVA had met my expectations, the mono CELLINI surpassed them with a few suspense cues which sound, anachronistically, as if from one of Piero's giallos.
Will need to listen to this several more times before I can offer some sort of review on it. smile

Never saw or heard of this TV series before. LE EVASIONI CELEBRI appears to be a French/Italian co-production.

Does this series title translate into English as "celebrated escapes"?
