To be fair different films are made for different reasons, so I will break it down in genres- DRAMA- ABANDON SHIP-57- HORROR- THE HAUNTING-63- ACTION-SPEED-94- SCI-FI-INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS-56- COMEDY-SONS OF THE DESERT-33- SO MANY MORE THAT COME CLOSE.
As Dan states, different genres, different choices and whilst I'm less of a film watcher than I used to be, I should list the following as my five favourite films ... pure enjoyment:
Enormously difficult question for me as my collection continues to expand and I'd find it much each easier to answer which is your favorite movie within certain genres. Also so many movies I would consider for favorite films but have questionable endings or other flaws that make me hesitate to include them. Others I can be fascinated with for long stretches of time and forget about and rediscover.
Current top 5:
1. The Shawshank Redemption (1994) 2. Dark City (1998) 3. Ghostbusters (1984) 4. Dawn of the Dead (1978) 5. Battle Royale (2000)
With one or two exceptions, you are all numbskulls who dwell on Hollywood fodder as if that were the only cinema that ever existed. HOW can you leave out Bergman?
