Looking at the back insert of my fathers CONTACT ON CHERRY STREET CD (#1908/2000), FLYERS CD (#1472/2000) and AMANDA CD (#2798/3000) they should have sold out. Are these that SAE are selling unnumbered or did we miss that they re-released them as unlimited?

Why have some of these titles not sold out before now? Looking at the back insert of my fathers CONTACT ON CHERRY STREET CD (#1908/2000), FLYERS CD (#1472/2000) and AMANDA CD (#2798/3000). Are these that SAE are selling unnumbered or did we miss that they re-released them as unlimited? Insofar as I can guess, the albums are - at this point - probably not shipped out in any sort of numerical order. The new copy of "Contract on Cherry Street" that I bought from SAE sometime in the last six months is numbered, so I would safely say that these are not unlimited reissues, but remaining stock for these albums. In any event, "Amerika" has been on my to-get list for quite some time, so I'm thankful for the sale!

AUGH! An infernal double post - my apologies to all. I'll point out that I'll also probably pick up "The Package," as I've been catching up on my James Newton Howard of late.

Why would CONTACT ON CHERRY STREET (2000 copies) a great score by Jerry Goldsmith, not be sold out in 15 years? It was released in 1999 by Prometheus.

Why would CONTACT ON CHERRY STREET (2000 copies) a great score by Jerry Goldsmith, not be sold out in 15 years? It was released in 1999 by Prometheus. The back of my copy notes that it's limited to 3000 copies - and was pressed & copyrighted in 1999, so it's not part of a reprinting. The album also usually sells for $24.99, and that can seem rather pricey for a brilliant but not-all-that-well-known Goldsmith score - and that may have put people off in picking it up sooner. Anyway, if you're reading this, are a Goldsmith admirer, and don't have "Contract on Cherry Street," now is a great time to pick it up. It's a very fine score indeed, with some pretty marvelous brass writing, and quite a bit of wonderful low-end piano.

I also recall that this album usually sells for $24.99, and that can seem rather pricey for a brilliant but not-all-that-well-known Goldsmith score - and that may have put people off in picking it up sooner. I just rechecked the back of the one my Dad has and it is #1908 (handwritten) / 2000 (printed) and pressed/copyrighted 1999. Yours does say limited of 3000? Then would there have been 5000 pressed? See if Ford Thaxton states his theory, his name is associated with this release. But I will be accused of being a fanboy (fangirl) that is demanding things, like he did in the THIEF thread.

Yours does say limited of 3000? Yes. Then would there have been 5000 pressed? I would imagine not. "Contract on Cherry Street" is a great score, but I can't imagine anyone would think they could move 5000 copies of it. A cursory check of a few websites also indicates that the score received a 3000 copy edition - so, if I had to theorize, one of two things happened: 1. There was a misprint in an early edition of the booklet & packaging indicating "2000" instead of "3000." 2. Prometheus initially put out 2000 copies, then negotiated for an additional pressing that brought the grand total up to 3000, and made the number adjustment to the additional cases. Either way, I can't say the vagaries of the limited edition business interest me very much - the music is here, we should enjoy it - and if you don't have it, but like Goldsmith, pick it up, willya?! Given its usual list price, at $9.99 its an absolute steal, and there's much listening pleasure to be had from the score. And let me also put in a good word for the "Jerry Goldsmith at CBS" album, which offers not only great variety, but really wonderful music that shows just how well-developed Goldsmith's voice and dramatic tastes as a composer were towards the start of his career. The "Playhouse 90" scores alone are worth the price of admission.

I am interested in purchasing a few of these, but I would like to hear from anyone that has purchased from this sale on what the inlay cards say about "Limited Edition of ?" This will help me figure out which ones I need to pick up first according to the limited number, thanks.
