If you missed London concert last fall, you will have another opportunity as both Tim Burton and Danny Elfman will be present at the next concert of the "Music of Danny Elfman for the Films of Tim Burton" series, which will take place on March 25th in Prague. John Mauceri will conduct Czech National Symphony Orchestra.
It was just announced and the tickets should be on sale starting tomorrow. I'll post the link as soon as it's available... so far there is no information about this concert on the orchestra's website yet.
Well, I was already at the London concert, and I assume it's pretty much the same program. If I went, it would only be if I got an interview possibility with Elfman, I think.
Thanks for the info, Lokutus! I've attended London concert last year, and it was such an awesome treat, that I immediately bought tickets for Prague. Morricone in February, Elfman in March - this year is shaping to be a good year for film music concerts.
I just attended this concert and I am still "high". I eveln got an autograph from Danny Elfman and say few words to him. Of course he will soon forget them but it was just great. I hope this will repeated soon. Maybe in Germany.
I have seen some cameras in the concert room. Can somebody find out if it was recorded and will it be published/broadcasted?
Was this concert different to the ones before?
Well, sorry, I just had to write it down. I didn't know where else.
Thanks for the report. It's interesting that there was far more interaction with Elfman in this concert and the Switzerland one than the premiere in London last year, where he was nowhere in sight and totally unreachable except for the performances on-stage -- no press, no fans, no signings, no anything.
Btw, some more news you might have heard about... but just in case you haven't...
Elfman has already completed scoring BIG EYES, the new Tim Burton movie. He will be recording his ballet in May in Berlin. Currently there is no release scheduled but Elfman was quite optimistic there will be one soon enough.
The concert was actually filmed for Czech TV and should be probably broadcasted in near future, the crew was also attending the rehearsals so there should be some coverage on local news - I will post some if I get to anything... Unfortunately it seems that the CZTV crews was the only one allowed to get any interviews as there were several attemps from various parties to get interviews, but neither of us was successful. But at least both Elfman and Mauceri were very easily approachable and willing to sign stuff and take pictures with people attending the concert, Elfman would be signing probably until now but he had to leave and didn't have enough time to sign everything so he signed one item probably for everyone waiting for him (and there might have been easily around 50 people waiting). On several occasions Elfman (and Mauceri as well) repeated how pleased and surprised he was with our orchestra so hopefully he'll come back either to do more concerts or perhaps record anything... fingers crossed.

Marek Eben has been doing this show for years interviewing anyone from filmmakers, politicians, writers, musicians, anyone you can think of... too bad the archive shows only a tiny fragment of the interviews he has done - since he did a great interview with Michael Kamen too, when he was recording Open Range here shortly before he passed away - which must have been one of his last.

Sony Classical will release Danny Elfman‘s music for the ballet Rabbit & Rogue. The composer of such films as Spider-Man, Batman, Alice in Wonderland, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Avengers: Age of Ultron and Men in Black composed the score for the American Ballet Theatre. The ballet premiered in June 2008 at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York and was recorded for a CD release in 2014. The album will be released on June 7, 2016. Check out a video featurette about the composer’s work on the project from a couple years ago after the jump.
