I have had this score for awhile and pull it out quite often to give a listen. While it played today, I realized why! Damn it is beautiful and lifts my spirits! Holdridge is amazing.
I agree, this is a very good score. As far as I'm concerned, everything I've heard of his is made of gold.
I wish I was aware of the score community when some of the limited releases were initially released from Intrada. Fortunately, I haven't missed one of his releases in several years.
When I listened to the clips for this on Intrada's website I was totally riveted by what I heard. Up until this point I was almost totally unfamiliar with Lee's music except for his Beauty and the Beast theme, which I've always adored. Well after listening to the whole score of In Seach of Peace I started delving into his music and he has since become one of my favorite film composers to the point we exchange FB messages from time to time. This is a truly exceptional score with so much depth, beauty and emotional resonance.
I pulled this out today for the umpteenth time and once again got carried to another place. I then went on a Holdridge binge for the rest of the afternoon. Listened to Winston Churchill, Walking With Destiny, Splash and The Dreamer of Oz.
If you have never given Holdrige a listen, I implore you to. This man is magnificent and I am not sure he has had a miss.
Dang it, Edwina! I've already bought enough this month, and now you have to go ahead and remind me of this Holdridge which I never ordered and just found reasonably priced on Amazon. Just listened to some of the samples, and crikey! Can't imagine why I didn't pick this up years ago.
Thanks for the boost. The effort was more than worth it for me.

That's what I love about you Sean. You are so enthusiastic about this music we all love so much. I am thrilled that you were able to snag a copy of this amazing Holdridge score. Immerse yourself in it.
It's an outstanding score and one of his best, and perhaps his single largest in sheer scope. That final cue really sends things off with spectacular grandeur.
Just can't believe this brilliant and incredibly kind man didn't become one of the A-listers, while utter baboons are presently cleaning up shop in Hollywood. Disgraceful and shameful. At least he's given us a very extensive back catalogue of wonderful music to pour through and enjoy.
I'm still waiting for someone to release his symphonic powerhouse score to the killer dog movie THE PACK!

I agree with you, especially concerning the scope of this score. You finish disc one and you are in awe of the fact that you have disc two to relish as well.
