my opinion based on just hearing the soundtrack release......
It's a very professional well produced effort.
However, it's another one of these post DARK KNIGHT scores that could be swapped with the music for the remake of TOTAL RECALL, a Resident Evil film or just about a dozen other recent action films and NO ONE COULD TELL THE DIFFERENCE.
And if you are wondering, I'd look the composer of this score and the direct square in the eye and say the exact same thing.
The One quote of Basil's theme from the original film just makes it even more unmemorable to my way of thinking.
I accompanied a friend to the film recently, I'm in the "very little creativity" camp. Some film music creators are completely under the thumb of others on the project, at least that is what I like to think.

These were my thoughts after seeing the film also. Often the old A-list composers would create a sound, not a theme, a sound, and use it as the signature soundscape for the score. Throught the 80's Goldsmith used this technique for just about every score. In the case of the 87 Robocop it was that brash, metallic, gleaming synth effect. Its very rare to hear this kind of approach in today's modern scores.
I thought the score was quite unmemorable, save the fact I was surprised to hear the theme in a couple of spots. The film was a bit better than the Total Recall remake in that the story had enough uniqueness which at least tried to give this film a reason for being made. Still, it lacked all of the charm of the old one, and the characters were all pretty flat. Gary Oldman's character was especially poorly written, being all over the place ethically depending on where the writers needed him in that scene.
I'm really getting tired of PG-13 action movies. I feel we're either given R-rated gorefests or PG-13 banality. Where's the solid R-rated action film gone? Cut the expensive effects nonsense and make a good film.
...what a waste of all that talent, and a superb studio...!
Yuck.
Appropriate that there's an electric guitar mixed in there, as these kinds of 'scores' sound to me like nothing more than gratingly annoying orchestral power chords! (Hereby known as OPC - which is close to OCP... which I feel is apt, as this is a corporate sounding by the numbers score!).
I hope the film is an improvement on what I heard in that little clip (thanks for posting).
