Elfman recorded over an hour of music, which could mean that his amount of score in the film will be about equal to Tyler's.
Also, I was told by someone in the know that the Elfman music was recorded in London. Because of that, perhaps there's a greater chance that some of his music will make it onto the CD?
This thread is too long to check now, but am I alone in thinking. ..why didn't they carry on with Silvestri? I think he nailed the first film & when his theme (finally!) gets out in Act IV, it still gives me goosebumps.
I agree with this. Although I'm fine with Tyler doing that scoring, or, now having some of his score left in the movie , Silvestri was my preferred choice.
And then when someone felt the Tyler score needed some replacement work, they couldn't go back to Silvestri and say "Um, we were kinda, um, wrong to replace you to begin with so, can you kinda come back and help out?" Or maybe they DID and he said "nope".
But now with reports that Elfman has contributed an hour of music, ugh, my interest in the movie is still there but not so much for the score. All these doomsayers proclaiming that the movie is now going to be a bomb, a disaster make me chuckle...but the score sure is going to be awful now
Two weeks is plenty of time, especially considering he's alrady done half the score. And this wouldn't be his first rush-job replacement.
Ideally two weeks isn't preferential, but it can be done and it's done all the time.
For the love of God, no Enough is enough, already we know we'll have to sit through the chuggity chuggity strings he lathers on for superhero music
And what is up with the major credit on the poster "special thanks to Marvel founding chairman" or whatever ? I've never seen anything like this on a poster credit block before.

Perhaps you can point to a specific track that contains the "chuggity chuggity strings" so we can have a better idea of what you're talking about? Also, am I wrong or is this the first "superhero" score Elfman has done since 2004?
Looks like there's still time to finish dumping Tyler's score and have Elfman complete the movie.
That ain't happening.
Four weeks ago if somebody had said they'd love to see Elfman come in and rescore half the movie, you and everybody else would have said "That ain't happening."
No, that sort of thing was totally possible... Six weeks ago. Since the film is due to start screening just a few weeks from now, it looks a lot less possible.
Obviously, Whedon and/or Marvel liked SOME of what Tyler did or they wouldn't have kept any of it. They could have thrown the whole score out in January and gotten someone else to start from scratch. But they didn't.
