THURSDAY, DECEMBER 26

THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN---Tom Cruise is no longer attached to the MGM remake of the 1960 John Sturges Western due to schedule problems. The remake script was written by Nic Pizzolatto (TRUE DETECTIVE) and is being rewritten by John Lee Hancock (THE BLIND SIDE, SAVING MR. BANKS). The original movie starred Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, James Coburn and Charles Bronson. Other MGM remakes underway are ROBOCOP, POLTERGEIST, DEATH WISH and WARGAMES. MGM's remakes of CARRIE and RED DAWN have been disappointments.

REDBOX---Redbox said the ten most rented movies for 2013 were:

1. IDENTITY THIEF
2. THE HEAT
3. WORLD WAR Z
4. FLIGHT
5. OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN
6. DJANGO UNCHAINED
7. GROWN UPS 2
8. WHITE HOUSE DOWN
9. HERE COMES THE BOOM
10. NOW YOU SEE ME

DOCTOR WHO---the Christmas special drew an impressive 8.29 million viewers in England compared to last year's Christmas special which had 7.59 million.

WONDER WOMAN---Lynda Carter commented on if it will be strange seeing another actress, Gal Gadot, playing the role in BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN, "I don't think so. It was a long time ago. I care more about the character continuing than holding on to my piece of it. I hope she has fun with it." Carter also commented on Wonder Woman not being the main superhero in BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN, "And maybe that's better. She won't have to carry the whole film. It takes the pressure off. I wish her well. I'm just glad she's going to be out there again. Maybe she'll get her own show again."

SHAZAM---director Peter Segal (GET SMART) commented on the status of the DC Comics superhero, "Now that Superman is being invigorated and going up against Batman, I think it's difficult for DC to figure out how to launch this character in the wake of Superman's resurgence...I've always loved Shazam, but I don't know if it's going to see the light of day anytime soon."

POINT BREAK---Keanu Reeves commented on if he will return for the remake of his 1991 movie that also starred Patrick Swayze and Gary Busey, "Absolutely not. It's not my place." He said the remake, "sounds very exciting - but is it a good thing? I don't know. If they can find a way to do it that works out good, then God bless them."

WarGames? NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Just watched the film and it's perfect. Doesn't need to be redone.

And that was a remake, so now it's a remake of a remake...

Keanu Reeves, ladies and gentlemen, providing the most definitive proof that he isn't an idiot since turning down "Speed 2."
