Good. I can live without the original, but no harm-no foul to include it with the remake.

I'd heard the Get Carter remake was not very good, so that had me wondering, too. smile

Interesting. I thought the trailers for the Michael Caine film were incredibly cheesy. The Stallone version is gritty and believable. Thus, my preference for the Stallone version. I think the character he plays in Get Carter is also one of the most sincere, genuine performances I`ve seen - thinking specifically about his clumsy, desperate attempts to console the victim...

I'm not trying to put you on the spot, Warlock, but when you mention just seeing the trailers, you haven't actually seen the original. I haven't either, but it's considered to be a classic, hard, British gangster film. Been wanting to see it for a while. smile

I've also never seen the original (just one of those movies you never get around to), but like Warlok, I did enjoy the remake a great deal and thought it was one of Stallone's best films at the time. When I see a movie that I know is a remake, I usually like to see the original for comparison sake, so hopefully one of these days I'll get around to it.

Warlok, you managed to find the only other person in the world who liked get carter remake with stallone!! Ha ha, just funning mate.
You both really should see the original. Watch out for the throwaway lines - they really are key to the plot.

Heh heh,

Well, I guess I should in fairness re-contest that the *trailer* for the original Get Carter certainly doesn`t do it any favours. I suppose I`ll give Mr. Caine a go once the double feature gets released (!).

The Italian Job - okay, here I`ve seen both. Lukewarm to both versions. I probably liked the remake just slightly more because of the lower degree of planned/deliberate farcity/comedy. As probably you goodly folks know though, I do prefer my fare darker.

Both Carters had to play off of one another during the in-betweenie, Escape To Victory. Maybe the best performance should be judged by how many times the tough guys blink - the only way to get the blinkin' job done. smile
