I believe Varese has the rights to all those old MCA albums - Eiger Sanction, Earthquake, Jaws II, Dracula.... Had the rights (there has been threads about this). There was no way that MCA records was going to give Varese CD rights in perpetuity, why should they.

I would love if someone could released the tangled web of music from JFK.

I never said the word perpetuity, on purpose. I wasn't trying to claim they ever had perpetuity rights. Just that they have the rights, right now.

Well I'm not either, but the fact is no other label has re-issued any of those four MCA albums in the 25 years since Varese did....

Well I'm not either, but the fact is no other label has re-issued any of those MCA albums in the 25 years Varese since Varese did.... Except one of the MCA albums that Varese released on CD was PSYCHO II, and that has since been re-issued in expanded form by Intrada. Edit: Also EXPLORERS.

I really hope Varese - or ANYONE - reissues The Eiger Sanction, Earthquake, Dracula, and Jaws II this year - with or without new content. They are the only four Williams OSTs I do not have in my physical collection because they go for outrageous price on the secondary market. All four scores DESERVE to be in print again - expanded or not. Also, some label REALLY needs to re-issue the original Jaws in a 2CD set containing the complete film cues - in chronological order this time - plus the stereo and quadrophonic mixes of the LP re-recording on the second disc. The sound quality the LP on the current CD is from the earliest days of CD mastering, and the Decca release of the film cues sounds like it was taken from some second or third generation source. Back to LLL, I can't wait for this title to be announced!

Re-recording? Of The Eiger Sanction? What? All I'm saying in that in the early 90s, Varese released onto CD several MCA LPs, including The Eiger Sanction, Earthquake, Dracula, and Jaws II. All four of those CDs are long out of print, fetch huge sums of money on the secondary market, and no other label has re-issued them in the what, 10 years since they've all been out of print? I truly hope all four come out again, and come again real soon! I suspect Varese still has the right and is hunting for unreleased music (MV and James Fitzpatrick have practically confirmed this for Dracula at least) for them all, but hopefully after a while of no additional music found they re-issue the LPs straight up, assuming they are in fact the only label that could re-issue them. I can't think of any other reason why none of the other labels wouldn't have picked up the rights to these four titles. I mean, all four titles are right up LLL's alley, I would think!

OK, you confused me with your terminology because usually when people say OST they are referring to the original soundtrack album, not the film cues. Obviously a 2CD set for Eiger with everything on it would be ideal.

How about the first Harry Potter score? Years ago MV had said it wasn't quiet possible, but in December, 2013, he updated with this quote (bolded): If anyone has a chance with Star Wars its Intrada. As for the rest, LOTR is pretty much taken care of. Bond is still up in the air (a matter I hope we can resolve in the near fture..at least on SOME titles). Potter is so close I can taste it.

Update from MV: May the fourth be with you!!!
so..."Born on the Fourth of July" ?
Yesterday was May 4th. A phrase from the Star Wars movies is "May The Force Be With You". So May 4th has become unofficial "Star Wars day", as a play on words; "May Fourth" + "May The Force Be With You" = "May The Fourth be with you." Also, MV tends to just reveal titles now on the monthly flyers, he doesn't really do clue games. So, I do not think a second meaning was intended by MV when he said that. But I could be wrong.

LLL works with Warner Brothers a lot; Could it be Presumed Innocent, JFK, or Sleepers?
