.......As some body just mentioned to have a post entirely on this subject. There is an upcoming Williams cd from La La Land in a few months from now or early in 2014. It was originally part of the Black Friday batch but couldn't make it in time for its approvals from the maestro himself busy from his schedule conducting THE BOOK THIEF (presumably)

there are some obvious hints here and there and random guess that it could be any of these titles

1) HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHER'S STONE (3CD set)
2) JFK
3) EMPIRE OF THE SUN
4) THE TOWERING INFERNO
5) A.I. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (2CD set)
6) FAR AND AWAY
7) JURASSIC PARK
8) JURASSIC PARK: THE LOST WORLD
9) ALWAYS

I would be very pleased if its finaly JFK or EMPIRE OF THE SUN but who knows? let guess work game begins...!

Can we add Born on the Fourth of July to the wishlist?

Good choice- I havent seen the film in ages and remember the score at the time of EMPIRE OF THE SUN- even then this was Williams most intense moving work on par with SCHINDLER'S LIST in emotional dark terms. How much more music is missing from this- the ost was a very short suite.

MV did say they are working on more 1989 scores. Why not this?

Not much else I want from him, but I would buy Jurassic Park expanded on CD if it came out.

Sorcerer's Stone would need three discs to be done right.

I really like your list! The only one I might add would be "The Lost World" and I might exchange out SS for "Prison of Azkaban" but ooooh! If it's any of those I'd be happy!

What were the hints given btw?

I hope it's
EMPIRE OF THE SUN

So obscure and forgotten now

Empire of the Sun would be my most wanted from the titles listed thus far

I'd like to add FAR AND AWAY to that. Not crazy about the movie but as far as the score goes it is one of my favorite William's score.

BTW, It was the 50th Anniversary of JFK so it would have been right for the Black Friday annoucement in November and also HARRY POTTER 1 would have made an excellent Xmas present given its themes and hell of a gift title to start the season.

It might be "Always".

In the new "Abyss" thread, there was this conversation:

---------------
One of the posters wrote this:

1989/90: The Abyss, Batman, Last Crusade, Star Trek V, Back to the Future II and III, Red October, Always – Man that was a great year!

In reply to that comment, la la land records wrote:

1989 was MY YEAR! That's why we try to do as many scores from that era

Batman
Lethal Weapon 2
Star Trek V
Black Rain
Pet Semetary
Fat Man and Little Boy
Tango and Cash

We even have few more planned in 2014!

MV

--------------

So, maybe "Always".

For me the big title there has to be A.I. which is a fabulous score that deserves a legitimate and complete release (the Oscar promo is just too expensive these days). Much as I truly love most of the other scores mentioned, I think it's this one that has the greatest emotional impact, and again for me, it elevates an already great movie, to classic status.

Dracula?

Unfortunately the complete masters cannot be found as of yet. I think MV chimed in on its status as well. Once these turn up, it wil probably be a Varese deluxe edition..some day!

its quite underated as well. A better mastering of this masterpiece score is also deserving. Hope this happens next year around Black Friday- 2014

An expanded or complete John Williams score? Heck, any of the above mentioned titles would most certainly be an instant purchase for me.
