Anyone else here just dying to see the score to this 80's action masterpiece get a release? I think it would be a perfect title for La-La Land Records or Intrada. There are enough Kamen, Hancock and 80's action cheese fans to sell 1000-2000 copies, I'm sure of it!

Personally, I think the screenwriter should get a free copy of the cd when it comes out!
Any Kamen is an instant buy for me. I'd be excited to get this one.

What does it sound like, in comparison to other Kamen scores?
Does it have any memorable themes, or is it impressive scoring that works well in the film, but may not stand-alone very well away from the film?

So, you're the guy who wrote the script to Action Jackson? Allow me a moment to freak the F out upon realising this...
Ok, I'm all freaked out now. Do you realise that you're a genius? An absolute gem of a writer? I'm not even kidding here, it's not a case of "It's so bad it's good" for me, I know it's a movie that doesn't take itself seriously. IMO Action Jackson is THE most ultimate 80's action movie of them all. If I were to teach someone about action movies from the 80's, I'd use Action Jackson as the perfect example. It is awesome in every single way it possibly could be, most of it thanks to your script. The one-liners are sublime, from "So? He had a spare!" to "I have to catch a cab!" and "How do you like your ribs?" Where did you get these things?!
I'm such a big fan of your work, if I ever met you I'd ask you to sign my chest and then have your signature tattooed, then remove the flesh from my body for posterity. Of course, I could just have you sign a piece of paper, but that would just be awkward.
This movie has given me so much enjoyment over the years, it's one of my absolute favorite movies. Thank you so much for creating this work of action art. THANK YOU! I recently got the Blu-ray, which looks GREAT! Have you seen it in that format yet?
Did you spend any time on the set of the movie? Any good stories to share?

Hello Robert, couldn't find a way to contact you other than here. I hope my last post didn't scare you, it was all in jest. I am planning to review Action Jackson on my blog and would love to conduct a painless interview with you to accompany the review. Do you think that would be possible? We're talking some questions in written form which you'd respond to when you get the time. The blog is not in English, as that is not where I am from.
I don't know if you get royalties for sold copies, but I do intend to provide info to my readers where they can get their hands on physical copies of Action Jackson and I believe that everyone who reads my review will want to get their hands on a copy ASAP.

Action Jackson is currently available on Blu-Ray (I don't know how good the transfer is), and yes, thanks to all those Writers Guild members who went on strike over the years -- I participated in one of those especially long strikes starting a month after the movie opened, which didn't exactly help my career momentum -- I do actually get residuals from the film.
I find that the film's biggest fans tend to be white guys who were in college in the early 90s, but that is not a scientific sampling.
I can only dream that the film could find the cult-y following that Road House has found, which mysteriously has remained in the public eye much more than Swayze's megahit Ghost.

Thanks man, I really appreciate that! It's funny you mention that about the lack of cult-y following, because I intend to call Action Jackson "The best action movie you've never seen", as it has been lost under the radar for a lot of people who don't live and breathe this stuff, as I do, while like you say Road House has gotten a huge cult following. In my book, the only movie that tops Road House in the awesome 80's action department is Action Jackson.
I was 3 when Action Jackson came out and didn't see it until 2005, if memory serves me right, so I didn't discover it until I was 20.
The Action Jackson Blu-ray looks GREAT! It got a solid 4.0 in picture and audio quality on Blu-ray.com. You should get yourself a copy, or let me buy you one as a thanks for the upcoming interview. I'll work on the questions I want to ask and will send you an email as soon as I'm done.
