Just wanted to know if this cd set MAURICE JARRE: THE LONDON CONCERT which is a re-issue of a concert recording available on the Milan label same content as on the previois issue with the title: MAURICE JARRE AT THE ROYAL FESTIVAL HALL.
It does have 17 minutes of SUNCHASE suite as well. Can anyone confirm hows the sound quality here as it was in need of a re-master. I love EVI concerto piece on it and had to really turn up the volume to hear it properly. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!
Yupp. I've bought the LONDON CONCERT some months ago as a replacement for the older ROYAL FESTIVAL-CD. Only after receiving it I've discovered that the EVI-concerto was shortened from 19:51 to 9:57. It's listed as "extrait" on the LONDON CONCERT. The quality of SUNCHASER is also a bit disappointing due to some faint digital clicks (which were not on the original Milan-promo from many many years ago). So, honestly, I can't recommend the LONDON CONCERT.
I got it when SAE reduced their price, since the shorter EVI concerto was a definite negative. I never had any issue with the Sunchaser tracks, but will now! Haha.... Besides, someone will surely get to that lengthy score with a disc of its own someday, probably when I'm preparing myself for the boneyard :-/ A shame, its really good, and I'd rather now watch the film again.

That's a shame. Maybe Milan should re-issue the complete 'EVI Concerto' on a different Jarre compilation- honestly speaking there are already that many out in their catalogue. I was hoping for a better remastering of this concerto which is based on a 12 tone primer. I love it- particularly the first 5 minutes of it- it has an mesmerizing build up.
