I am very detailed with respect to my cds. Yesterday I was listening to the soundtrack "The Book Thief", when I noticed a failure in the track 14, near 1:46. I looked at the surface of the cd, but it was perfect with no risk. Anyone else noticed this. I decided to post on the forum to find out if it is a problem of recording or specifically my copy, in which case I'll need to replace it.

What kind of failure? I'll be getting my copy tomorrow if all goes well so I can check it when I get my copy.

There's a big digital click/skip.

It is as if the music had jumped or some interference in the recording happens in 1:46 (with greater intensity) and a few seconds later (with less intensity).

Yes, that's right. You described it well.

It's on every CD, on the iTunes version, Amazon mp3's.

At least in Europe.

I thought this was an issue was my computer/cd ripper, but I guess it's a common problem.

Yep, same here. But it's very minor indeed.

Here's what I wrote to a friend last week:

"One negative observation… track 14 has a couple of “ticks” that shouldn’t be there. I blew up the waveform and that shows the ticks aren’t spikes in the sound, but rather gaps with loss of signal – the waveform shows tiny amounts of empty space at those points. Clearly, it’s not an individual CD error, but some kind of mastering glitch. So I don’t think replacing it will cure anything, unless they remaster it".

I ripped the wav on my CD, because my players are not good enough to detect any skip or pop.
And I did notice a tiny gap around the 1:44 mark that lasts about 10/100 of a second. So it may
be pretty minor on my disc. Or at least my players don't seem to skip when they hit it.

I there any update on this issue? Has Sony made a new master or are they still selling the same damaged CD?

Has anybody contacted Sony about this matter? What did they said?

It is pretty obvious that many people here have never listened to any score on an LP! Really? 10/100 of a second click???
