Can anyone give me their impression of this score? I do like what I heard recently.

What I mostly remember is Badalamenti playing the theme from this LIVE in Ghent three years ago, as a warm-up to the long suite from the glorious TWIN PEAKS (which he also played on). I remember thinking how unashamedly romantic it was and a testament to Badalementi's versatility.

I haven't heard the rest of the score.

Yes, the love theme is a very romantic, also bittersweet waltz. The CD features various versions of all the themes (the ouverture also features them all). The love theme is always played by piano or orchestra or both. "Maria's Theme" is an earnest and gentle melody for Isabella Rosselini's character, played by flute and trumpet. "Adulterer's Blues" is the theme that gets the most thorough workout, performed by big band, by sax, by jazz band, sung by a capella wordless choir and one time by a female vocalist in a, how to say this, decidedly cheesy arrangement ("I love you for today"). It's a bit sleazy, a bit sultry, sometimes farcial. There's also another waltz bookending the movie as big band tune and french style waltz respectively. I think much of the score is actually in dance rhythms, giving the whole story a feeling of a round dance.

Anyway, used to be one of my favourite soundtracks for a while. Very lovely. But hard to get I hear.

Mr. Drive did a SUPERB job of describing the music. Maria's theme is played on piano and a lonely trumpet that echoes what seems like impossible love. The waltz seems sad and then very uplifting. The music is a perfect marriage to a very good movie. The score is hard to find. The only reason I got is was because a friend on a music board found a used copy in a store. I don't know where one could find it now. Maybe e Bay.

FYI, I just went into Amazon and found that there was a used copy for about $8.25 plus $3.99 shipping. That is a good price if it is in good condition. (And a DVD for $4.96.)

I really nice romantic score. I think I might not have my copy any more.
Not because I did not like it, just cause I have too many scores.

Badalamenti is a really lovely composer.
