There's a website somewhere, think it's called UglyChristmas, or something like that, with the most grotesque, over-the-top Christmas decorations. Though that's getting off-topic on this thread.... I'd post a photo of the Christmas tree I used to have, with lit candles, if you please, but I don't know how to post photos. And I'd have to download it first, because it's on paper. Candles on a tree are really fascinating. Mesmerizing, actually. They create a faint shimmer, which makes the tree seem almost alive. And having them takes one back in time to earlier millenia, long before the introduction of electricity. (However, you always place the candles where there will be nothing above them, at all, and, when you light them, you watch. You don't go to get something to eat, you don't read a magazine, you don't, nowadays, text. No, none of these things. You watch them. And then, when you're finished watching, you put them out...) That's the only way I came to allow myself to use them. Back in New York City, up around East 86th St., a neighborhood called Yorkville, traditionally occupied with German immigrants, you could still buy candle holders in the shops. They are these little clips, which attach to the tree limb, then a small candle, I preferred red ones, could be fit in them. I used candles like those from those angel chimes, which were so popular once upon a time, though Hannukah candles also generally fit them. Haven't had a Christmas tree in years. Instead, I have a massive open-house Christmas Party, attended by about 100 people; great food!

There is a neighborhood in Brooklyn New York called Mill Basin, which has blocks and blocks of houses with great sights of lights on their houses. It is climax with one family who has a epic display of lights on their house. For years I and people I knew would check it out on Christmas eve or Christmas night after diner. Also there is the well known Christmas tree in Rockefeller center in mid Manhattan.

When I was young it was a great sight to take my young nieces and nephew to Macy's on 34th street. Christmas toy department. A dream come true for any young kid.I remember once in 84 I handed out hundred dollar bills as we got to that department at Macy's to those kids and told them have fun. Yeah the good old days.[Reagan years].
