Received my Varese CDs in San Francisco today (Saturday).

I wasn't a fan of The Abyss score (having had the old CD years ago and got rid of it) but I bought a copy of the new expanded one for a friend. Having played it, I have to say this new release is superb and makes me totally rethink my opinion of it. Outstanding.

Very happy with Brass Target and Suspect too.

Not so impressed with Nemesis. The good tracks in the second half only partially make up for the turgid stuff I suffered through during the first half.

Yeah, Nemesis is the only Goldsmith Trek score that doesn't work as a listening experience in complete form...but there is an awesome 45-50 minute album to be made from it...unfortunately that's just not what Varese originally assembled but at least now we're able to ourselves...

Yeah, Nemesis is the only Goldsmith Trek score that doesn't work as a listening experience in complete form

A lot of people (including me) would disagree with you on that.

I think the complete version is better.

I agree. The mix on the Varese expansion makes the score a lot more interesting than it was on the "unmentionable" though. The more prominent synths in particular definitely add something.

Dear friends of the board.

I DrivingMissDaisy aka Peter Hackman started working at Varese a little over a week ago. I have been helping them ship out their club orders. My goodness it's been a lot of work. I want to tell you all that the whole shipping department is working their TAIL off, myself included. Heck, every day I break out into a sweat working as fast as I can to get as many orders out in the day.

Things I've learned. Emailing slows us down SO much. If you can hold off emailing Varese about orders for at least 2 or more weeks, we can spend every single minute of the day packing and shipping these bad boys out to you all. When you ordered your discs for some reason it said SHIPPED even though it hadn't shipped. Why? I have NO idea. It's something the shopping cart web program thingy does. Discs began shipping last Wednesday Jan 8th and will continue to do so for probably one more week. We are getting them out to you all AS FAST as we can.

It was trickier this time because we had so many awesome discs to ship and the time in between PLACING and SHIPPING orders was several weeks. Just yesterday we finally got through the first days orders of 12-9-13. To give you an idea of how many orders we had, were talking thousands.

Is it hard to wait this final couple weeks for a score you've wanted for years? HELL YES! Have I been in your shoes, DAMN RIGHT! Heck, I'm still in your shoes when I'm waiting on this or that score from a label. I found waiting for The Goonies after it was ordered was some of the longest weeks I ever had to wait.

If you can wait at least two weeks before calling or emailing us so that we can spend every single business hour shipping that would be awesome!. ONCE we ship your order you will get an email notification IMMEDIATELY. If you have not gotten it yet, NEVER FEAR, we're working as fast as we can and we'll get to your order. Hang in there a little bit longer. I know this last week or two of waiting is the absolute worse.

I can say this, the Varese team truly is a TEAM! Everyone is working together to put out some of the best stuff for all of us and they all work their tails off. I've even stepped up my game as I work there.

That's about it everyone, enjoy the discs and for those still waiting. Put on one of your favorite scores by your favorite composer or take a listen to an old favorite as we process and ship your order to you!!

All the best,

Your Neighborhood DMD

A huge thanks to the guys at Varese (including Mr. DMD now). I received my CDs last week and have had a blast with the new versions of Abyss and Star Trek: Nemesis and thoroughly enjoyed the encore version of Runaway. Just got Brass Target to listen to now.

Dear DMD,

thanks for taking your time and giving us your personal inside view in your own unique style.
Thank you very much! smile

BTW the reason why I still cannot listen to all this wonderful scores is not Varese but customs ...
So an extra "thank you" to you and the rest of the team for sending my precious parcel that fast around half the world! smile

My apologies for my misspelled and/or grammical errors in my post. My computer is at the foot of the bed a couple feet in the air as it's being used for a TV as well so I couldn't see the screen very well. I wrnt back and fixed a few errors.

No session listening for me. I have no idea about that stuffsmile

Glad you are enjoying the music.

Monday is a Holiday but we'll be back BRIGHT and early Tuesday shipping them out.

You might want to fix the two references to "working their tales off" too.
